Vladimir Solonari
Vladimir Solonari (born 20 October 1959, in Chișinău, Moldavian SSR, USSR) is a Moldovan-American historian, university professor, and former politician. Biography Solonari was born in a family of ethnic Ukrainians in Moldova, Ukrainian speakers of Russian language, Russian. He graduated from the Faculty of History at the State University of Chișinău in 1981 and, with the support of Alexandru Moșanu, he pursued doctoral studies at Moscow State University, obtaining the title of Candidate of Historical Sciences in 1986 with a thesis on the British Labour Party (UK), Labour Party's programmatic issues in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Between 1986 and 1990, he taught at the State University of Chișinău and, between 1992-1993, at the Shevchenko Transnistria State University, University of Tiraspol. Ion Ciubuc (; 29 May 1943 – 29 January 2018) was a Moldovan economist and politician who served as the 3rd Prime Minister of Moldova from January 1997 to February 1999. Biography Ion Ciubuc was born on 29 May 1943 in the village of Hădărăuți, at the time in Hotin County, today in Ocnița District. He graduated from the Agricultural Institute in Odessa in 1970, obtaining the qualification of a specialist in the agrarian economy. He subsequently obtained his Ph.D. in economics. He initially worked as an economist at the "1 Mai" kolkhoz in the village of Hădărăuți (1960–1963), after which he satisfied his compulsory military service in the Soviet Army (1963–1966). The Christian-Democratic People's Party (, PPCD) is a Christian-democratic political party in Moldova. The party was led by Iurie Roșca from 1994 until 2011. Until 2005, the PPCD and the (Moldovan) National Liberal Party were the main political organizations in the country supporting the unification of Moldova and Romania. After the PPCD began supporting the anti-unification Communist President Vladimir Voronin, the party has lost its unionist credentials while other parties such as the Liberal Party have taken over the pro-Romanian ideological space. Alexandru Moșanu (19 July 1932 – 7 December 2017) was a Moldovan politician, historian and professor. Biography Alexandru Moșanu was born in Braniște, Rîșcani, Braniște, Kingdom of Romania (now in Rîșcani District, Moldova). He was the first speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova between 1990 and 1993. He was also one of the co-authors of Moldova's 1991 Declaration of Independence. Moșanu was the author of over 100 works on the history of Moldova and Romania. His most important contribution as an author is a study on Romanian historiography published in Moscow in 1988.
