Vladimir Lexa
Vladimir Lexa was a Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Czechoslovakia in 1989-90. His son Ivan Lexa, became the head of the Slovak Secret Service (SIS). After the Velvet Revolution he becomes an informal head of organized crime in the region by the help of his ties to the structures of the former secret service StB and the PENTA Group which he helped to create. Most of the founders of PENTA received an education in the Soviet Union and it is speculated they have strong KGB ties. His son Ivan Lexa served as the head of the Slovak secret service known for its criminal practices. Ivan Lexa
Ivan Lexa, Ing. (born August 18, 1961 in Bratislava) is the former head of the Slovak Secret Service from 1995 to 1998. One of the closest allies of the former autocratic Prime Minister of Slovakia Vladimír Mečiar, under Lexa the Secret Service committed numerous high-profile politically motivated crimes. In 2000, Ivan Lexa fled Slovakia and became an international fugitive and target of an intense search by the Interpol. He was captured in 2002 in Umhlanga, South Africa and extradited back to Slovakia. In the meantime, Lexa changed his looks, losing weight and gaining muscle and tan, making his appearance the focus of cover pages in Slovak media. Slovak courts have never found Ivan Lexa guilty of any wrongdoing and in two cases Lexa was covered by the amnesties granted by then acting President Vladimír Mečiar. Slovak Information Service ( sk, Slovenská informačná služba, SIS) is an intelligence agency of the government of Slovakia. It was established on February 15, 1993, as a descendant of the ''Federálna bezpečnostná informačná služba'' (the domestic intelligence agency of Czechoslovakia). Velvet Revolution
The Velvet Revolution ( cs, Sametová revoluce) or Gentle Revolution ( sk, Nežná revolúcia) was a non-violent transition of power in what was then Czechoslovakia, occurring from 17 November to 28 November 1989. Popular demonstrations against the one-party government of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia included students and older dissidents. The result was the end of Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, 41 years of one-party rule in Czechoslovakia, and the subsequent dismantling of the command economy and conversion to a parliamentary republic. On 17 November 1989 (International Students' Day), riot police suppressed a Student activism, student demonstration in Prague.
