Vietnam News Agency is the official State media, state-run news agency of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It operates more than 30 foreign news bureau, bureaux worldwide and maintains 63 bureaux in Vietnam — one for each city and province, including 6 in ASEAN. The current General Director of TTXVN is Nguyen Duc Loi. It also operates the website VietnamPlus. It exists alongside the Vietnam Television, Vietnam Television (VTV) and the Voice of Vietnam, Voice of Vietnam (VOV) being the official information agencies under direct administration of the Ministry of Finance (Vietnam), Ministry of Finance. Asia News Network (ANN) is a news coalition of 24 news organisations from various Asian countries. Headquartered in Singapore, it was established in 1999 to form an alliance and enhance co-operation among the various news organisations and their respective journalists and newspapers. Through the coalition, members pool resources and expertise to offer in-depth coverage of regional and international issues by presenting local viewpoints on complex topics. Television in Vietnam began to appear in the mid-1960s in Saigon, then under control of South Vietnam, with the appearance of Saigon Television Station. In 1970, in the North, the Voice of Vietnam broadcast the first experimental television program. Beginning from the late 1970s, color television was introduced and broadcast experimentally. Today, television in Vietnam is available in many broadcasting formats, with many national and local channels, broadcast or pay-per-view with more than 200 channels available to viewers. Vietnam completed the digital television transition in 21 provinces starting on 30 June 2020 and throughout the whole country on 28 December, shutting down all analog signals in the country.
