Vitalis Chikoko (born 11 February 1991) is a Zimbabwean professional basketball player for SIG Strasbourg of the French LNB Pro A. Early life Chikoko started playing basketball at age 12 in Harare. Professional career Chikoko started his career in Zimbabwe with the Mbare Heat from Mbare, Harare, Mbare suburb in his hometown Harare. He left in 2011 to play for ASC Göttingen in Germany, before transferring to Basketball Bundesliga club BG Göttingen later that year. After one year with Göttingen, Chikoko transferred to TBB Trier where he would stay for three seasons. In 2015, Chikoko joined Pallacanestro Reggiana of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). Vitalis of Creuilly or Vitalis of Bernay (died 19 June 1085) was a Benedictine monk from Normandy. Sources on his life includthe early 15th century history of the Abbeyby John Flete and the 1751 An history of the Church of St. Peter, Westminster, commonly called Westminster Abbey' by Richard Widmore. Vitalis of Savigny ( – 16 September 1122) was the canonized founder of Savigny Abbey in Manche and of the Congregation of Savigny (1112). Biography Early life and work as chaplain He was born in Normandy at Tierceville near Bayeux about 1060–65 in a family not belonging to the nobility. His parents were Regefredus (Rainfredus) and Rohardis (Rohes) and he had at least one sister, Adeline, and a brother called Osbert who later also became a monk. Nothing is known of his early years; it is possible that he first went to the Benedictine monastery of Grestain, the family monastery of the local noble family of Conteville, before possibly studying in Bayeux or Liège. Vitalis of Milan () was an early Christian martyr and saint. Biography His legend relates that Vitalis was a wealthy citizen of Milan, perhaps a soldier. He was married to Valeria of Milan. They are supposed to have been the parents of the (perhaps legendary) Gervasius and Protasius. According to legend, Vitalis was an officer who accompanied the judge Paulinus from Milan to Ravenna. He encouraged Ursicinus of Ravenna to be steadfast at his execution, and himself gave Ursicinus honorable burial. Vitalis was discovered to be a Christian. Paulinus ordered Vitalis to be racked and then thrown into a deep pit and covered with stones and earth. The date of his martyrdom is uncertain: some sources say that he was a victim of Nero; others, of Marcus Aurelius. He was martyred in Ravenna, but all else in the story is suspect. Saint Vitalis (or, Vitalius) of Gaza (died ) was a hermit venerated as a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church. He is the patron saint of prostitutes and day-laborers. Life A monk of the monastery of Seridus close to Gaza, Vitalis travelled to the city of Alexandria at the age of sixty. His legend states that after obtaining the name and address of every prostitute in the city, he hired himself out as a day laborer, and took his wage to one of these women at the end of the day. He would hire the woman for the night and, according to legend, spend the night awake and praying. As he approached the homes of the prostitutes, however, Vitalis would supposedly loudly proclaim where he was intending to visit. Vitalis of Assisi () (1295 – 31 May 1370) was an Italian hermit and monk. Origin Born in Bastia Umbra, Vitalis as a youth was licentious and immoral; however, he attempted to expiate his sins by going on pilgrimage to various sanctuaries in Italy and Europe. When he returned to Umbria, he became a Benedictine monk at Subiaco. Life Vitalis then spent the rest of his life in the hermitage of Santa Maria di Viole, near Assisi, in utter poverty. His one possession was an old container that he used to drink water from a nearby spring. His reputation for holiness soon spread after his death. Vitalis "Digital" Takawira (born September 24, 1972 in Salisbury) is a retired Zimbabwean football player. He has played forward and attacking midfield professionally in Zimbabwe, Switzerland and the United States, as well as for the Zimbabwe national team. Career He came to prominence in Zimbabwe while playing for popular Harare outfit, Dynamos, where he was top goal scorer for five seasons. Takawira was the top scorer in the Zimbabwean First Division four times and won the African Golden Boot in 1994.
