Vitali Hakko (1913 – 10 December 2007) was a Turkish businessman, founder of the Vakko clothing business. Yedikule
Yedikule (''Seven Towers'') is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Fatih, Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its population is 15,789 (2022). It is named after the seven-towered Yedikule Fortress, which surrounds the neighborhood. Urbanized in the 16th century, the neighborhood became a hub for industrial and agricultural activities. Yedikule has a local football team that played in the TFF Second League for a season. Ulus Sephardi Jewish Cemetery
The Ulus Sephardi Jewish Cemetery () or Arnavutköy Jewish Cemetery () is a burial ground of the Sephardi Jewish community in Istanbul, Turkey. It was established in 1901 during the Ottoman Empire era in Arnavutköy neighborhood of Beşiktaş district on the city's European side. The cemetery is situated today in an area, which developed in the history from a countryside to an upscale neighborhood called Ulus. Its initial name Arnavutköy Jewish Cemetery is still in use today. It was reported that due to the location of the cemetery in the city's one of the most expensive quarters, only wealthy people are interred in the ultra-luxury Ulus Cemetery while people, who can not afford the very high amount of donation requested for a resting place, are transferred to the cemetery in Kilyos, which lies around far away from the city center in northern part of Istanbul. Neve Shalom Synagogue
The Neve Shalom Synagogue (; ) is a Jewish congregation and synagogue, located at Büyük Hendek Caddesi 61, in the Karaköy quarter of the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, in the Istanbul Province of Turkey. History The synagogue was built in response to an increase in the Jewish population in the old Galata neighborhood (today encompassed by Beyoğlu district) in the late 1930s. The Neve Shalom Synagogue is the central and largest Sephardic synagogue in Istanbul, open to service especially on Shabbats, High Holidays, bar mitzvahs, funerals and weddings. A Jewish primary school was torn down in 1949 for that purpose and the synagogue was built on its ruins. The construction completed in 1951. Cem Hakko (Istanbul, 17 June 1955) is a Turkish fashion designer and businessman. He is the son of Vitali Hakko (1913–2007). Life After finishing elementary school in Turkey, he continued his studies at College du Leman in Geneva and graduated from high school in Strasbourg. Hakko studied at "Ecole Des Hautes Etudes Internationales / School of International Studies in Paris and Faculté de Sciences Economiques/ Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. He wrote the book called "The Fashion Concept" as his thesis at the University of Fribourg. In the book, Hakko analyzed the emergence of fashion, its development phases and the social and economic factors which have created fashion from a scientific point of view. The history of the Jews in Turkey ( or ; ; () covers the 2400 years that Jews have lived in what is now Turkey. There have been Romaniotes, Jewish communities in Anatolia since at least the beginning of the common era. Anatolia's Jewish population before Ottoman times primarily consisted of Greek-speaking Romaniote Jews, with a handful of dispersed Karaite Judaism, Karaite communities.
