Vishnyeva (; ; ; ; ) is an Agrotown (Belarus), agrotown in the Valozhyn District of Minsk Region, Belarus, near the border with Lithuania. History The town was probably established in the 14th century. It was a private town, owned by the Giedygołdowicz, Steczko and Chreptowicz noble families. The first Catholic church of Saint Mary was built in 1424 by castellan of Wilno Siemon Giedygołdowicz, and then rebuilt in Baroque architecture, Baroque style in 1637 by voivode of Nowogródek Voivodeship (1507–1795), Nowogródek Jerzy Chreptowicz. Joachim Chreptowicz founded a sub-departmental high school subordinate to the Wilno University. Around 1790, an iron blast furnace was built. After the Partitions of Poland, the town was annexed by Imperial Russia. In 1859, it had 72 households, totalling 900 people, of which 500 were Jews. The Church of Saint Mary in Vishnyeva is a Catholic Church, Catholic parish church in Minsk Region, Belarus. It was constructed in 1637–1641 on the banks of river. The church is listed as a Belarus Cultural Heritage object. History The first Catholic parish in Vishnyeva was established in the 15th century by Vytautas the Great, in 1424 a wooden church was built by Petras Gedgaudas. The stone church was constructed in 1637–1641 on donations of Nowogródek Voivodeship (1507–1795), Nowogródek Voivoda and consecrated in honor of the Visitation (Christianity), Visitation. After his death, Jerzy Chreptowicz was buried in the church's crypt. In 1771 the church was restored after fire on donations of the philanthropist . In that period two sacristy, sacristies were added to the altar part. In 1906 the church was reconstructed again, a narthex and two square-shaped towers were added to the main building.
