The Ministry of Finance is a Ministry in the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. The head of the ministry is the Minister of Finance and is appointed by the President of Trinidad and Tobago on the advice of the Prime Minister. The incumbent, Davendranath Tancoo was appointed on May 3, 2025. He replaced Vishnu Dhanpaul, who assumed office on March 17, 2025, succeeding Colm Imbert, who was minister from September 2015 to March 2025, Dhanpaul was appointed as minister following the appointment of Stuart Young as Prime Minister. Stuart Richard Young (born 9 February 1975) is a Trinidad and Tobago attorney and politician who served as the eighth prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago between March and May 2025. As member of the People's National Movement (PNM), he has been a member of parliament (MP) in the House of Representatives for Port-of-Spain North/St. Ann's West since 2015. He was the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister. On 6 January 2025, it was announced Young would be the presumptive nominee to succeed as prime minister in August 2025 when Keith Rowley intends to resign from representational politics. The People's National Movement (PNM) is the longest-serving and oldest active Politics of Trinidad and Tobago, political party in Trinidad and Tobago. Colm Imbert is a politician in Trinidad and Tobago. He was the Minister of Public Utilities from March until May 2025 and Member of Parliament for the constituency of Diego Martin North/East, which he has represented since December 1991. During his lengthy parliamentary career, Imbert has served in numerous government positions. Davendranath Tancoo
Davendranath "Dave" Tancoo (born October 1965 in Fyzabad, Trinidad) is in economist and attorney at law. Since 2025, he has served as the he is Trinidad and Tobago's minister of finance and member of parliament for Fyzabad. He is the chairman of the United National Congress and previously served as the party's General Secretary from 2010-2020. He was elected to the House of Representatives as member of Parliament for Oropouche West on 10 August 2020 in the 2020 election. In the 2025 Trinidad and Tobago general election, his candidacy shifted to the neighbouring constituency of Fyzabad where he was elected MP on 28 April 2025.
