Virus (Norwegian Band)
Virus was a Norwegian avant-garde metal band signed to Jester Records. It was formed in 2000 by Carl-Michael Eide. Czral considered the band a continuation of his previous band Ved Buens Ende because of similar musical elements and an avant garde form of unusual experimentation, although the band had its own characteristic sound. History Virus released their debut, ''Carheart'', in August 2003. The band released their second album ''The Black Flux'' on November 10, 2008 through Season of Mist. A third album, ''The Agent That Shapes the Desert'', was released in February 2011. An EP, ''Oblivion Clock'', was released on 1 December 2012. The fourth and final album, ''Memento Collider'', was released on June 3, 2016. The band announced their breakup via Facebook on November 13, 2018. Oslo
Oslo ( or ; ) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of 1,064,235 in 2022, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age, the area was part of Viken. Cadaver (band)
Cadaver is a Norwegian death metal band from Råde and Fredrikstad. The band had a brief venture in the early 1990s before splitting in 1993. Cadaver would eventually re-emerge as Cadaver Inc. in 1999 which consisted of only one founding member. For their next album, they fell back to using their original band name Cadaver and ended their activities in 2004, with their final live show in 2005. The band reformed in April 2019 and released their fifth album in 2020. History Anders Odden and Ole Bjerkebakke founded Cadaver in 1988. They were later joined by bassist René Jansen and in 1989 the trio released the "Abnormal Deformity" demo. The demo attracted the attention of Carcass members, Bill Steer and Jeff Walker, who signed the band to their Earache imprint label, Necrosis. ''Oblivion Clock'' is an EP by the Norwegian avant-garde metal band Virus. It was released on 1 December 2012 by Duplicate Records. Background The working title of ''Oblivion Clock'' was ''Flux the Fluent''. It was recorded at various locations in a period of eleven years; the work on the EP began as far as 2001 and it was finished by the end of 2012. This was the band's last album with the session bassist and keyboardist Bjeima. Additional session bassists on the album were Plenum, who at the time was an ex-member of Virus, and Bård Ingebrigtsen. ''The Black Flux'' is the second studio album by Norwegian avant-garde metal band Virus. It was released on 10 November 2008 via Season of Mist. Background ''The Black Flux'' was recorded between June 2007 and July 2008 at Amper Tone Studios in Oslo. This is the band's only studio album that was released by the label Season of Mist. AllMusic reviewer Greg Prato stated: "Most times, this Oslo, Norway-based outfit sounds comparable to Voivod, but at other times sound like a distant musical disciple of the Melvins (with far less distortion on the guitar and more discernible vocals). Beyond Dawn
Beyond Dawn is a Norwegian avant-garde metal band turned electropop composed of Espen Ingierd, Petter Haavik, Tore Gjedrem, and Einar Sjursø. They are described on their official website as "Norway's Best & Least Selling Act". After two demo tapes in 1990 and 1991, the band were picked up by French label Adipocere Records, which made possible the band's first two commercial releases, 1993's ''Up Through the Linear Shades'' 7" and 1994's ''Longing for Scarlet Days'' EP. In 1995, Beyond Dawn released their critically acclaimed full-length debut '' Pity Love'' on Candlelight Records. Soon after, the band began work on an album intended to be a departure from the doom metal music they were becoming known for, but their record label was less than pleased with the band's drastic change in sound and they were soon in search of a new label. Satyricon (band)
Satyricon is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Oslo in 1991. Satyr and Frost have been the band's core members since 1993, and its only official members since 1997. The band's first three albums typify the Norwegian black metal style. Since its fourth album in 1999, the band has strayed from this style and included elements of traditional heavy metal in their sound. Dødheimsgard (also known as DHG) is a Norwegian extreme metal band formed in 1994. Dødheimsgard originally played black metal, but 1999's ''666 International'' saw them change their style into experimental and Avant-garde metal, avant-garde/industrial metal. In 2000, they shortened their name to DHG. Their name,"Dødheimsgard" is a contraction of three words: ''Død'' which means 'death', ''heim'' which means 'home' and ''gard'' which means (at least in this context) 'realm'.
