Virgle J. Osborne is an American Republican politician currently serving the 2nd district in the Oregon House of Representatives. The district includes Roseburg, Sutherlin, Glide, Myrtle Creek and others. He was elected to this position on November 8, 2022, in the 2022 election against Democrat opponent Rainey S. Lambert and Constitution opponent Edward Remfroe. Early life and business career Osborne was born in Roseburg, Oregon and raised in Winston, Oregon. After attending Umpqua Community College, he moved to Santa Cruz, California to pursue a career in sales, though he returned to Oregon in 1995. That year, he founded Twin Peaks Off Road, an off-roading vehicle business. Umpqua Community College
Umpqua Community College (UCC) is a public community college near Roseburg, Oregon. The college has sixteen campus buildings located on bordering the North Umpqua River. The campus also features a track, tennis courts, and an outdoor pool. In 2009, a vineyard was added to the campus. About 3,300 full-time students and 16,000 part-time students attend UCC. Gregory Wayne Abbott (born November 13, 1957) is an American politician, attorney, and former jurist serving as the 48th governor of Texas since 2015. A member of the Republican Party, he served as the 50th attorney general of Texas from 2002 to 2015 and as a member of the Texas Supreme Court from 1996 to 2001. Standoff At Eagle Pass
On January 11, 2024, the Texas National Guard took control of Shelby Park, a area of parkland in the town of Eagle Pass, along the Rio Grande river, which separates the United States from Mexico, after Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed an emergency declaration to close the park. In his declaration, Abbott cited the Mexico–United States border crisis and the need to secure the border. The Texas National Guard blocked U.S. Border Patrol agents from patrolling the area, which the Border Patrol had been using to hold migrants in recent weeks.
