''Virginie'' is a French-language Canadian television series that aired Monday through Thursday on Radio-Canada (the French-language CBC television network). It debuted in 1996. The show examined the public and private lives of teachers, students, and families at the fictional Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc high school. It frequently dealt with controversial social topics, such as teen drug use, ethnic prejudice, divorce, and other subjects touching on contemporary Quebec life. "Virginie" was a ''téléroman''-style drama that often used "cliffhangers" in the storylines. It aired 120 episodes per year of 30 minutes each. The series was produced and largely written by Fabienne Larouche. Virginie ended in December 2010 after 15 years on air; the last episode aired on December 15, 2010. Geneviève Néron (; born 24 July 1974) is a Québécoise actress and musician. Biography Career After studying film and theatre at Cégep de Saint-Jérôme, Néron acted in low-profile stage plays and began to appear on television. She found a broader audience with appearances in the television series ''Virginie'', ''Tribu.com'' and ''Les Invincibles''. She made her breakthrough with programmes for youth, ' and ', receiving a Prix Gémeaux in 2004. Between television appearances, Néron appeared in several films including '' Les Boys 3'', ''Soowitch'' and '' La Moitié gauche du frigo''. She was also in the cast of the mini-series ''Jean Duceppe''. Since 2005 Néron has been touring with her country-rock group, , of which she is the lead vocalist and bass guitarist. Béatrice Picard
Béatrice Picard, , (born July 3, 1929 in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian actress whose career spans over six decades. She became known for her role as Angelina Desmarais in one of the first French Canadian "télé-roman" series called "Le survenant" in the early days of French-speaking television. She then went on to a prolific career in televised comedies such as "Cré Basil" and "Symphorien". She also played in numerous theatre productions, summer plays, and films. Most recently, she is well known as the Quebec French voice of Marge Simpson in ''The Simpsons''. Picard received the title of "Miss Radio, Télévision et Cinéma Monde" in 1958. Umar ibn al-Khattab (; ), also spelled Omar, was the second Rashidun caliph, ruling from August 634 until his assassination in 644.
