Violet B. Wenner
Baroness Violet Beatrice Wenner (1884 – December 7, 1970) was an Anglo-American artist known for her portraiture. She painted a wide range of prominent individuals, including crowned heads of Europe, American politicians, scientists and industrialists. Biography Wenner was born in the first quarter (January, February or March) of 1884 in Manchester, England, to Swiss parents, although in later life she made a wide array of claims about the specific year of her birth within the 1880s. She had an exhibit of her work at Pisco's Gallery in Vienna in about 1908. Wenner, who studied with Walter Crane, Sir Walter Crane in England, and Heinrich von Angeli in Vienna, in Munich and in Paris, was also said to be a talented Harp, harpist. Wenner was married in 1911 near the family home in Alderley Edge to a captain of the Ulanen and gentleman in waiting to the King of Württemberg, Adolf Conrad von Sternenfels, . Checker Cabs
Checker Motors Corporation was a Automotive industry, vehicle manufacturer, and later an automotive subcontractor, based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The company was established by Morris Markin in 1922, created by a merger of the firms Commonwealth (automobile company), Commonwealth Motors and Markin Automobile Body, and was initially named the Checker Cab Manufacturing Company. The manufacturer was originally based in Chicago, before moving to Kalamazoo in 1923. The company was renamed Checker Motors in 1958. Checker made the iconic American taxicab, taxi cab, valued by taxicab companies for its durability in heavy use. Special features included wide rear doors, large rear seats and trunks, and jump seats for two extra passengers. In later years, the company had trouble competing with fleet discounts offered by the larger manufacturers, as well as economies of scale in procuring components.
