Viola Hill
Viola Hill (1892 – 1954) was an African-American suffragist, activist, and musician. She was a founding member of the Alpha Suffrage Club and a community leader within the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Childhood and early activism Viola Hill was born in September 1892 to Mattie Hill, a laundress, and Carey J. Hill, a day laborer. She spent her young childhood in Athens, Georgia. Some time after the 1900 census, the family moved to Chicago. Many Black people moved to northern cities in the early and mid-1900s as a result of widespread racist violence, segregation, and economic insecurity in the South. In 1910, Hill graduated from Wendell Phillips High School in the Bronzeville neighborhood. Wendell Phillips was Chicago's first predominantly Black high school. Viola Jelagat Kibiwot (born 22 December 1983 in Keiyo District) is a runner from Kenya who specialises in the 1500 metres. Kibiwot won her first international medal as a junior runner at the 2000 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, where she took the bronze medal for Kenya. Consecutive world junior cross country titles followed at the 2001 and 2002 editions of the event, and she also claimed the gold medal over 1500 m at the 2002 World Junior Championships in Athletics. Violah Jepchumba (born 23 October 1990) is a Kenyan-born Bahraini long-distance runner who competes in road running events up to the half marathon distance. She is the current Asian Record holder in the half-marathon (established 1 April 2017) with a winning time of 1:05:22. In 2016, at Praha, she ran a personal best of 1:05:51, which then ranked her as the third fastest woman ever. She began competing internationally in 2014 and was runner-up in her first European outing at the Parelloop. That year she won a series of lower-level German road races, including the Paderborner Osterlauf, as well as the Route du Vin Half Marathon in Luxembourg. Viola of Teschen, later known as Viola Elizabeth (, ) ( – 21 September 1317), was Queen of Bohemia and Poland by marriage to Wenceslaus III of Bohemia.
