Vingleia Lighthouse
Vingleia Lighthouse ( no, Vingleia fyr) is a coastal lighthouse in the municipality of Frøya in Trøndelag county, Norway. The lighthouse sits on the island of Skarvfleshølen about north of the island village of Mausund, about northeast of the Sula Lighthouse, about southwest of the Finnvær Lighthouse, and about southwest of the Halten Lighthouse. It is lit from 21 July until 16 May each year. It is not lit during the summer due to the midnight sun of the region. Current tower The lighthouse was built in 1985 to replace the previous tower that was built in 1921. The tall tower is painted white with a black horizontal stripe and a red roof. The light sits at an elevation of above sea level. The tower emits a white, red, or green light (depending on direction), occulting twice every 8 seconds. Trøndelag
Trøndelag (; sma, Trööndelage) is a county in the central part of Norway. The midnight sun is a natural phenomenon that occurs in the summer months in places north of the Arctic Circle or south of the Antarctic Circle, when the Sun remains visible at the local midnight. Lighthouses In Norway
The coast of Norway is 100,915 km long and there have been a total of 212 lighthouses along it, but no more than 154 have ever been operational at the same time. The first, Lindesnes Lighthouse, opened in 1655; the newest Lighthouse, Anda, was finished in 1932. The first Lighthouses were private operations, but in 1821 the government made the Channel and Harbor Inspector responsible for Lighthouses in Norway. A dedicated Lighthouse Administration was set up in 1841. The Lighthouses are today mostly automated and since 1974, run by the Norwegian Coastal Administration. Two lightvessels had been operated along the Norwegian coast. Occulting Light
A light characteristic is all of the properties that make a particular navigational light identifiable. Halten Lighthouse ( no, Halten fyr) is a coastal lighthouse in the municipality of Frøya in Trøndelag county, Norway. The lighthouse is situated in the now uninhabited fishing village of Halten. It was first lit in 1875, and it is the northernmost of the chain of lighthouses marking the string of islands called Froan north of Frøya. Finnvær Lighthouse ( no, Finnvær fyr) is a coastal lighthouse in the municipality of Frøya in Trøndelag county, Norway. The lighthouse is located at Finnværet on the small island of Valøya in the Froan islands. The lighthouse is located about northeast of the Sula Lighthouse which is at Sula, about northeast of Vingleia Lighthouse, and about southwest of the Halten Lighthouse at Halten. The lighthouse was originally built in 1912 but in 1985 it was closed and a new automated tower was built right next to it.
