Vincent Banet is a French rugby league footballer who represented France at the 1995 World Cup. Playing career From the Catalan club, Banet played for the France under-18's in a 1993 match against their Great Britain counterparts. He was later signed by Workington Town, and made his début in October 1994. He returned to France after the season, joining the Limoux club. In 1995 he made his début for France, coming off the bench in one match at the 1995 World Cup. XIII Catalan
XIII Catalan is a rugby league team from Perpignan in the Pyrénées-Orientales region of southern France. They were founded in 1934, and thus were founding members of the French rugby league championship. In 2000 their senior team merged with nearby neighbours AS Saint Estève to form Union Treiziste Catalane, now better known in the English-speaking world by their Super League identity of Catalans Dragons. History In 1888 rugby was introduced to Perpignan by students returning from the Lycée Michelet in Paris. Workington Town R.L.F.C. is a semi-professional rugby league club playing in Workington in west Cumbria. Their stadium is Derwent Park, which they share with Workington Comets, a speedway team. The South Africa national rugby league team to date have competed at two Rugby League World Cups in 1995 and 2000. Rugby league was originally introduced to South Africa in the 1950s with the staging of several series tournaments within the country that saw fixtures between the English and the French however this concept failed to generate the needed interest and was not upheld. The South Africans did not see further international rugby league until the 1960s where the first national side undertook fixtures against the visiting British and a tour to Australia. From the 1960s onwards the international fixture list for the South Africans was minimal and it was not until the early 1990s when they began to play with some lasting regularity.
