Vince Peach
Vince Peach is a soul music enthusiast, record collector, radio presenter and DJ in Melbourne, Australia. Peach came to Australia from Liverpool in 1982, bringing his vinyl record collection. He presents the program ''Soul Time'' on Melbourne radio station PBS FM, which he has presented for 40 years. As a mark of respect, he is sometimes referred to as "''Vince 'The Prince' Peach''". Peach was first part of the Mod revival scene in Liverpool, where he travelled every weekend to the Twisted Wheel club and absorbed the beginnings of Northern Soul, evidently taking the role of DJ in the club. He started playing his music on the Melbourne community radio station PBS FM in 1984 and DJs in venues around Melbourne, and his program ''Soul Time'' , is believed to be the longest running soul show in the world. Soul Time
''Soul Time'' is a 1960 album by jazz pianist Bobby Timmons featuring Blue Mitchell on trumpet, Sam Jones on bass, and Art Blakey on drums. After ''This Here Is Bobby Timmons'', this was the second album recorded under Timmons' leadership. He handpicked a cast of jazz musicians to complement his gospel style of jazz. This album contains four songs written by Timmons ("Soul Time", "So Tired", "Stella B." (named for his wife), and "One Mo'"). " The Touch of Your Lips" was written by Ray Noble, "S'posin" was written by Andy Razaf and Paul Denniker, and "You Don't Know What Love Is" was written by Don Raye and Gene de Paul. Mod Revival
The mod revival is a subculture that started in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and later spread to other countries (to a lesser degree). The Mod Revival started with disillusionment with the punk scene when commercialism set in. It was featured in an article in Sounds music paper in 1976 and had a big following in Reading/London during that time. It gained momentum as an underground movement which was highlighted on London Weekend Show 20 May 1979, prior to the impending release of the film ''Quadrophenia''. The late 1970s mod revival was led by the band The Jam, who adopted a stark mod look and mixed the energy of punk with the sound of early 1960s mod influenced bands. Twisted Wheel Club
The Twisted Wheel was a nightclub in Manchester, England, open from 1963 to 1971. It was one of the first clubs to play the music that became known as Northern soul. History The nightclub was founded by the brothers Jack, Phillip and Ivor Abadi as a blues and soul live music coffee bar/dance club. The original location of the club was on Brazennose Street, between Deansgate and Albert Square. This was the rhythm and blues mod venue, with Roger Eagle as DJ. The last all-nighter at the Brazennose St. venue was 11 September 1965 with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (featuring Eric Clapton) headlining. Northern Soul
Northern soul is a music and dance movement that emerged in Northern England and the Midlands in the early 1970s. It developed from the British Mod (subculture), mod scene, based on a particular style of African American music, Black American soul music with a heavy beat and fast tempo (100 Tempo, bpm and above). The Northern soul movement generally eschews Motown or Motown-influenced music that has had significant mainstream commercial success. ABC Television is the general name for the national television services of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
