Vilnius Marathon
The Rimi Vilnius Marathon is an annual road marathon event, held in Vilnius, Lithuania. The main sponsor of the marathon is Rimi. Race offers marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k and children run experience. The course includes the most beautiful and distinctive places in Vilnius: Vilnius Old Town, Vingis Park, riverbank of Neris The river Neris () or Vilija (, ) rises in northern Belarus. It flows westward, passing through Vilnius (Lithuania's capital) and in the south-centre of that country it flows into the Nemunas (Neman) from the right bank, at Kaunas, as its ma ..., and even forest in Valakampiai. Trakai Triathlon
“Trakai triathlon” is the biggest triathlon event in Lithuania taking place near Galvės lake, in Trakai. Olympic (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) and Sprint (0.75 km swimming, 20 km cycling and 5 km running) triathlon and latter distance relay competitions are organized. In addition to the classics there is shorter super sprint distance(0.4 km of swimming, 10 km of cycling and 2.5 km of running). The Trakai triathlon is competed individually or by forming a team of 3 people, whose members take turns performing one of three competitions: swimming, cycling and running. After overcoming them all, the total result of all matches is added up. The event is organized by the Public Institution "Tarptautinis Maratonas". The marathon is a long-distance foot race with a distance of kilometres ( 26 mi 385 yd), usually run as a road race, but the distance can be covered on trail routes. The marathon can be completed by running or with a run/walk strategy. There are also wheelchair divisions. Vaida Žūsinaitė-Nekriošienė (born 13 January 1988) is a long-distance runner who competes internationally for Lithuania. In 2012, she represented Lithuania in the 2012 European Athletics Championships – Women's 3000 metres steeplechase, European Championships, where she finished 19th. Žūsinaitė met the qualification standards for the 2015 World Championships in Athletics, but might not be selected due to the three runners per nation rule. Darius Škarnulis
Darius Škarnulis (born October 21, 1977, in Alytus) is a Lithuanian race walker. Škarnulis represented Lithuania at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and competed in the men's 50 km race walk, along with his teammate and twin brother Donatas. While his twin brother did not finish the walk, Darius received a final warning (a total of three red cards) for not following the proper form during the 10 km lap, and was subsequently disqualified. Škarnulis is from Vilnius, Lithuania. He was also a successful marathon runner, winning the 2009 Vilnius Marathon in a time of 2:33:16.
