Villeneuve (electoral District)
Villeneuve () was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1949 to 1979. This riding was created in 1947 from parts of Pontiac riding. It consisted initially of: * the southwestern part of the county of Abitibi; and * parts of the county of Témiscamingue including the towns of Mercier, Noranda and Rouyn. In 1952, it was redefined to consist of: * parts of the county of Abitibi including the towns of Bourlamarque, Cadillac, Duparquet, Malartic and Val-d'Or; * the northern parts of the county of Témiscamingue including the cities of Noranda and Rouyn. In 1966, it was redefined to consist of: * the Towns of Barville, Bourlamaque, Cadillac, Chapais, Chibougamau, Lebel-sur-Quévillon, Malartic, Senneterre and Val-d'Or; * parts of the County of Abitibi; and * parts of the County of Témiscamingue. This is a list of Canada's 343 federal electoral districts (commonly referred to as '' ridings'' in Canadian English) as defined by the ''2023 Representation Order''. Canadian federal electoral districts are constituencies that elect members of Parliament to the House of Commons of Canada every election. Provincial electoral districts often have names similar to their local federal counterpart but usually have different geographic boundaries. Canadians elected members for each federal electoral district most recently in the 2025 federal election on April 28, 2025. Armand Caouette
Armand Caouette (20 July 1945 – 15 May 2010) was a Social Credit Party member of the House of Commons of Canada. His career included the fields of sales and air-conditioning. He was first elected to Parliament in the 1974 federal election at the Villeneuve electoral district. Following riding boundary adjustments in 1976, he was re-elected at Abitibi riding in the 1979 election. In the 1980 election, Caouette was defeated by René Gingras of the Liberal party. Oza Tétrault (1 May 1908 – 17 October 1995) was a Ralliement créditiste and Social Credit party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was a president and manager by career. Réal Caouette
David Réal Caouette (; September 26, 1917 – December 16, 1976) was a Canadian politician from Quebec. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) and leader of the Social Credit Party of Canada and founder of the '' Ralliement des créditistes''. Outside politics he worked as a car dealer. His son, Gilles Caouette, was also a Social Credit MP and was briefly acting leader of the party. Early political career Caouette was born in Amos, in the Abitibi region of Quebec, the son of Marie (Cloutier) and Samuel Caouette. Caouette was converted to the social credit philosophy in 1939. He was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada in a 1946 by-election in Pontiac for the '' Union des électeurs'', a pro-Social Credit group in Quebec.
