Village Cinema
Village Cinema is a Greek subscription movie television network. It started operation on June 11, 2012, broadcasting exclusively on Cosmote TV. Initially, it belonged to the Demco Group, and from November 2022 to the Antenna Group. The television channel specializes in programming centered on the film industry and the creative process of movie production. The channel commenced its transmission with the screening of the film ''Buried'', which marked its debut on Greek television. Antenna Group or ANT1 Group, is a media company in Greece and currently the largest Greek media company. It was established on 2 August 1989 by Minos Kyriakou. In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. Cosmote Cinema is a pay television service available in Greece that broadcasts blockbuster movies and hit series. It launched on 5 November 2012 as OTE Cinema. It was renamed of 14 November 2016. It is owned by OTE, who own and operate Cosmote TV a satellite television service and Cosmote Sport—a sports channel. Cosmote Cinema is a 24/7 service and it features hit series from UK and blockbusters movies from Greece and abroad. Also, it features shows with showbiz news, making of, deleted scenes and backstage. Recently, Cosmote Cinema has entered into an exclusive agreement with Walt Disney Pictures. As a result, it gives Cosmote Cinema exclusive rights to the coverage of the Academy Awards. Cosmote TV is the corporate name for two pay television services in Greece, owned by Greek telecommunication operator OTE. Village Cinemas is an Australian-based multinational film exhibition brand that mainly shows blockbusters, mainstream, children and family films and some arthouse, foreign language and documentary films. Since 2003, its Australian sites became a joint venture between Village Roadshow and Amalgamated Holdings, forming Australian Theatres.
