Viktoriya Gurova-Valyukevich (, née , Gurova; born 22 May 1982) is a Russian triple jumper. Career She won the silver medal at the 2003 Summer Universiade, the gold medal at the 2005 European Indoor Championships in Athletics, 2005 European Indoor Championships and finished tenth at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics - Women's Triple Jump, 2005 World Championships. She also competed at the Athletics at the 2004 Summer Olympics – Women's triple jump, 2004 Olympic Games without reaching the finals. In 2008, she reached the Athletics at the 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's triple jump, Olympic final, finishing in 7th. At the Athletics at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's triple jump, 2012 Summer Olympics she reached the final of the triple jump, finishing in 8th position. On 30 March 2017, she was disqualified, and her 2012 Olympics results were annulled, after her second probe came positive for banned substances. The 10th World Championships in Athletics (, ), under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), were held in the Olympic Stadium, Helsinki, Finland (6 August 2005 – 14 August 2005), the site of the first IAAF World Championships in 1983. One theme of the 2005 championships was paralympic events, some of which were included as exhibition events. Much of the event was played in extremely heavy rainfall. Background Bidding The original winning bid for the competition was for London but the cost to build the required stadium at Picketts Lock and host the event was deemed too expensive by the government. UK Athletics suggested to move the host city to Sheffield (using Don Valley Stadium), but the IAAF stated that having London as the host city was central to their winning the bid. 2005 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2005 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held at the Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid, Palacio de Deportes in Madrid, the capital city of Spain, from Friday, 4 March to Sunday, 6 March 2005. This was the first edition to be held in an odd year since switching to the biennial format, so as not to occur in the same as the outdoor European Athletics Championships and also recently moved IAAF World Indoor Championships. To accommodate this change, there was a two-year gap since the previous edition. It also marked the last time that the 200 metres were contested at the event. Russia finished on top of the medal table with 17 medals including 9 gold and a clear lead over Sweden and France.
