''Vienna – Berlin'' (german: Wien – Berlin) is a 1926 Austrian-German silent film directed by Hans Steinhoff and starring Charlotte Ander, Anita Dorris and Egon von Jordan. It was shot at the Terra Studios in Berlin. The film's art director was Hans Jacoby. It premiered at Berlin's Gloria-Palast. Hans Steinhoff
Hans Steinhoff (10 March 1882 – 20 April 1945) was a German film director, best known for the propaganda films he made in the Nazi era. Life and career Steinhoff started his career as a stage actor in the 1900s and later worked as a stage director. He directed his first silent film '' Clothes Make the Man'', the adaption of a novel by Gottfried Keller, in 1921. Steinhoff was a convinced Nazi and directed many propaganda films, he sometimes even wore his Nazi party membership button on the film set. His most notable films were perhaps '' Hitlerjunge Quex'' (1933), an influential propaganda film for the Hitler Youth, and '' Ohm Krüger'' (1940), for which he won the Mussolini Cup at the 1941 Venice Film Festival. On April 20, 1945, during the last war days, Steinhoff tried to escape from Berlin on the last scheduled Lufthansa flight. Kurt Gerron
Kurt Gerron (11 May 1897 – 28 October 1944) was a German Jewish actor and film director. He and his wife, Olga were murdered in the Holocaust. Life Born Kurt Gerson into a well-off merchant family in Berlin, he studied medicine before being called up for military service in World War I. After being seriously wounded, he was qualified as a military doctor in the German Army, despite having been only in his second year at university. After the war Gerron turned to a stage career, becoming a theatre actor under director Max Reinhardt in 1920. He appeared in secondary roles in several silent films and began directing film shorts in 1926. Gerron's popular cinema breakthrough came with ''The Blue Angel'' (''Der Blaue Engel'', 1930) opposite Marlene Dietrich.
