Victorian Philharmonic Orchestra
The Victorian Philharmonic Orchestra is an Australian orchestra affiliated with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and in 1999 had about 60 musicians. The orchestra has collaborated with numerous artists, including Australian alternative rock band, Jebediah and Indonesian artist Chrisye. Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is an Australian orchestra based in Melbourne. The MSO is resident at Hamer Hall. The MSO has its own choir, the MSO Chorus, following integration with the Melbourne Chorale in 2008. The MSO relies on funding by the Victorian State Government and the Federal government and support from private corporations and donors. It is supported by Symphony Services International. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge subgenre in the United States, and the Britpop and shoegaze subgenres in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Jebediah
Jebediah are an Australian alternative rock band formed in 1994 in Perth, Western Australia. They were formed by Chris Daymond on lead guitar, Bob Evans (musician), Kevin Mitchell (aka Bob Evans) on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, and Vanessa Thornton on bass guitar. They were joined a year later by Kevin's older brother, Brett Mitchell, on drums. After winning the National Campus Band Competition, the group were brought to national attention when their 1996 single "Jerks of Attention" received heavy airplay on Australian alternative radio station Triple J – which was followed by their breakthrough debut album, ''Slightly Odway'' (8 September 1997). Chrisye
Hajji Chrismansyah Rahadi (; born Christian Rahadi ; 16 September 1949 – 30 March 2007), better known by his stage name Chrisye (), was an Indonesian progressive pop singer and songwriter. In 2011, ''Rolling Stone Indonesia'' declared him the third-greatest Indonesian musician of all time. Born in Jakarta of mixed Chinese Indonesians, Chinese-Indonesian descent, Chrisye became interested in music at an early age. At high school, he played bass guitar in a band he formed with his brother, Joris. In the late 1960s, he joined Sabda Nada (later Gipsy), a band led by his neighbours, the Nasutions. Guy Gross
Guy Gross is an Australian film and television composer. He is known most for writing the award-winning music for the Australian science fiction series ''Farscape'' and the international hit film ''The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert''. He also composed for the animated television series '' Blinky Bill'' and '' Dumb Bunnies''. He has 91 credits as screen composer. Personal Gross began film scoring while studying classical composition at the Conservatorium High School in Sydney, Australia. He is the son of film producers Yoram and Sandra Gross. Gross composed music for the family animation business in High School. Gross was a partner and a director of Trackdown Digital, an Australian film music and audio recording center and is now part of the Church Street Studios collective. Stephan Elliott (born 27 August 1964) is an Australian film director and screenwriter. His best-known film internationally is '' The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert'' (1994). ''Frauds'' is a 1993 Australian thriller comedy film starring Phil Collins, Hugo Weaving and Josephine Byrnes. The film focuses on Roland Copping (Collins), a sociopathic insurance investigator who blackmails a married couple (Weaving and Byrnes) about the accidental killing of their friend during a prank gone wrong. It was selected to be In Competition at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival. Plot The film opens with a boy named Roland Copping celebrating his 8th birthday, where his mother gives him a pair of dice that belonged to his father.
