Victoria Memorial Square
Victoria Memorial Square is a park and former cemetery in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Established in 1793 as the burial place for those affiliated with the nearby Toronto Garrison ( Fort York). It was the first cemetery to be used by European settlers in what would become the city of Toronto. Originally known as St. John's Square, the park today is part of Fort York National Historic Site, and the site of a monument to the War of 1812 sculpted by Walter Seymour Allward and completed in 1902. History The cemetery was established by Governor John Graves Simcoe and the first burial in the cemetery was his infant daughter Katherine (January 16, 1793 - April 19, 1794). It served as the military cemetery for Toronto until 1863 and saw some 400 burials, including a number of victims of the War of 1812. Viktoria Square (originally Kyriakou Square) is a large square in the Municipality of Athens, Greece between 3 September and Aristotelous streets. It was renamed Viktoria in honor of the Queen of the United Kingdom on the occasion of the annexation of the Ionian Islands to Greece in 1864, as a gift to the enthronement of the Queen's nephew, Prince Christian William Ferdinand Adolf George of Denmark, later George I of Greece. Underneath the square passes the Athens Electric Railway at the homonymous stop. The square crosses the streets of Hayden, 3 September and Aristotelous; in its center is the sculptural complex Theseus saves Hippodamia by Johannes Pfuhl (1846–1914). Victoria Square is a shopping and leisure complex located in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The area includes over 70 shops, several restaurants and the Odeon cinema. Opened on 6 March 2008, Victoria Square is a commercial, residential and leisure development which took 6 years to build. Its anchor tenant at nearly is the largest House of Fraser that the retailer has opened in the UK. Design Victoria Square was developed by Multi Development UK Ltd. The architects were Building Design Partnership and T+T Design, the in house architects of Multi Corporation. At approximately and costing £400m, it is the biggest and was one of the most expensive property developments ever undertaken in Northern Ireland. Victoria Square is a pedestrianised public square in Birmingham, England. It is home to both the Town Hall and the Council House, and directly adjacent to Chamberlain Square. It is named in honour of Queen Victoria. The square is often considered to be the centre of Birmingham, and is the point from where local road sign distances are measured. It is a short walk from St. Philip's Cathedral on Colmore Row and is on the main pedestrian route between the Bull Ring and Brindleyplace areas. Victoria Square is a small, rectangular garden square 50 metres south of the remaining stables of The Royal Mews (on the large green block taken up by Buckingham Palace) and 150 metres north of Victoria bus station (which stands in front of Victoria Station (London)). Victoria Square is the name of the area and road that runs around the edge of the grounds of St Mary's Cathedral in Perth, Western Australia. It is the northern extension of Victoria Avenue. The area was originally named Church Hill by John Septimus Roe in 1839 or 1840, but was subsequently known as Victoria Square. Victoria Square is a residential skyscraper complex and wider town centre redevelopment project in Woking, Surrey. Upon topping out in September 2019, Tower 1 of the complex became the tallest building in Woking, overtaking Export House. Construction commenced in June 2017 and, following delays related to the COVID-19 pandemic, is due to be completed in August 2022. The total construction cost of the project was £700 million.
