Victoria Kimani
Victoria Kimani (born 28 July 1985) is a Kenyan singer, songwriter, and entertainer previously signed to Nigerian record label Chocolate City. Her debut album was released in 2016. She has appeared in the film ''7 Inch Curve.'' Life and career Kimani attributes that she began her career doing back-ups for Mercy Myra. By it involving considerable travel, she later opted to drop out of school to fully pursue a career in music. In late 2012, she was the first female artist signed by the Chocolate City music label, releasing her first single under the label, "Mtoto", in March 2013. The video was shot in Los Angeles. Yemi Eberechi Alade (born 13 March 1989), is a Nigerian Afropop singer, songwriter, actress and activist. Kora Awards
The KORA All Africa Music Awards are music awards given annually for musical achievement in sub-Saharan Africa. The awards were founded in 1994 by Benin born businessman, Ernest Adjovi, after a discussion in Namibia with the country's President Hage Geingob. The award is named after the kora, a West African plucked chordophone. The awards have been subject to several postponements since 1994 with a variety of reasons given. Problems have arisen with contracts signed, large sums of monies have been paid and the event postponed. In 2011 Adjovi was detained by the Nigerian Police Force with allegations he defrauded three Nigerian bodies. In 2008 Adjovi allegedly accepted S2.5 million for the 2008 Awards to be hosted by the Cross River State Government. He later allegedly struck an agreement with the Lagos State Government for US$7.5 million but the awards were not staged until 2010 in Burkina Faso. Adelle Onyango
Adelle Onyango (born 5 February 1989) is a Kenyan radio presenter, social activist and media personality. She was selected as one of 2017's BBC 100 Women and one of OkayAfrica's Top Women of 2018. Early life and education Onyango is from Kenya, but she attended high school in Botswana. In 2008, she was raped by a stranger in Westlands, Nairobi. Onyango has since supported causes to support the victims of rape, such as founding the campaign ''No Means No''.
