Victor Săhleanu
Victor Aurelian Săhleanu (; 19 January 1924 – 26 August 1997) was a Romanian physician and anthropologist. He was a leading figure in anthropology in his country from the late 1960s until his death. Biography Education and early career Săhleanu was born in Gura Humorului, in the Bukovina region of the Kingdom of Romania. After finishing secondary school at the Aron Pumnul High School in Cernăuți, he entered the medical faculty of the University of Bucharest, from which he graduated in 1948. At that point, with the onset of the Communist Romania, Communist regime, the institution became the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Between 1944 and 1946, he took part-time courses at the literature and philosophy faculty as well, but did not earn a degree. In 1949, he became a doctor of medicine and surgery, with a thesis on "Considerations regarding Field Medicine". Constantin Bălăceanu-Stolnici
Constantin Bălăceanu-Stolnici (6 July 1923 – 20 August 2023) was a Romanian neurologist. Biography Constantin Bălăceanu-Stolnici was born in Bucharest, the descendant of an old boyar family. He studied at the Ion C. Brătianu High School in Pitești, graduating in 1941. He then enrolled at the University of Bucharest in the Faculty of Medicine, obtaining the title of Doctor of Medicine with his thesis ''Considerații asupra complexului cerebro-dentro-olivar'', written under the direction of in 1948. He then practiced medicine at several hospitals in Bucharest, including (1952–1957), Ioan Cantacuzino (1957–1965), and Gheorghe Marinescu (1965–1970). From 1974 to 1993 he worked at the Ana Aslan National Institute of Geriatric and Gerontology. Beginning in 1974, Bălăceanu-Stolnici collaborated as an informant of the Securitate secret police of the communist regime. The Romanian Academy ( ro, Academia Română ) is a cultural forum founded in Bucharest, Romania, in 1866. It covers the scientific, artistic and literary domains. The academy has 181 active members who are elected for life.
