Victor Harold Matthews
Victor Harold Matthews (born 13 November 1950) is an American Old Testament scholar. He is the retired Dean of the College of Humanities and Public Affairs and professor emeritus of religious studies at Missouri State University. Matthews was born in Joplin, Missouri. He obtained a PhD at Brandeis University. In 2015, the fourth edition of Matthews' book, ''The Cultural World of the Bible'', was published. Joplin is a city in Jasper County, Missouri, Jasper and Newton County, Missouri, Newton counties in the southwestern corner of the U.S. state of Missouri. The bulk of the city is in Jasper County, while the southern portion is in Newton County. Stephen Pattison (born 1953) is a British scholar and former H. G. Wood Professor of Theology at the University of Birmingham. He is best known for his research on practical theology, ethics, and public service management.
