Vicki McDonald
Vicki Gayle McDonald AM is an Australian librarian who became President of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). Life Her first library was at the Dalby-Wambo Public Library in Queensland which she joined as a librarian assistant. She credits the German librarian Claudia Lux with noting, correctly, that she would become addicted to the work of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions in 2005. She became the head of Library and Information Services at the State Library of New South Wales in Sydney. The value of the New South Wales Library's collections had an estimated value of three billion dollars. In 2015 she moved from New South Wales to become the State Librarian and Chief Executive Officer of State Library of Queensland. Barbara Lison
Barbara Lison (born 2 October 1956) is a Germany, German librarian. She has led the Bremen public library service for thirty years. She was President of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) from 2021 to 2023 stressing the topics sustainability, open-access and fair copyright. Life Lison was born in Zbrosławice in Poland in 1956. She studied Slavic studies, history and educational science at Ruhr University Bochum. She initially taught Russian in Düsseldorf followed by a teacher traineeship in Düsseldorf and then by a library traineeship in Bochum and Oldenburg while studying LIS at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne. In 1986 she worked as head of the information department at the Federal Institute for Industrial Health and Safety Standards in Dortmund. Claudia Lux (born 24 March 1950 in Gladbeck, Germany) is a German librarian and the Member of the National Committee of International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions. Life and education After studying social sciences, Lux received her Ph.D. in sinology in 1985 at Ruhr University Bochum. She started to work as a sinologist at the State Library. She worked in the East Asia Department of the Berlin State Library and participated in a number of research projects. She became the director of the Senate Library and in 1997 director-general of the Central and Regional Library Berlin. From 1995 to 2004 she became the chair of the German Library Association and a member of the National Committee of IFLA. The Order of Australia is an Australian honours and awards system, Australian honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. Sharon Memis is a British researcher and administrator who worked for the British Council. She became the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA)'s Secretary General in 2023. Life Memis worked for the British Council in London, India, America and Belgium. She is fluent in French and Spanish. Astana is the capital city of Kazakhstan. With a population of 1,423,726 within the city limits, it is the second-largest in the country after Almaty, which had been the capital until 1997.
