''Vicious Creature'' is the debut solo studio album by Scottish singer and musician Lauren Mayberry, released on 6 December 2024 by EMI Records. After four albums as the lead singer of synth-pop band Chvrches since 2011, Mayberry announced in 2023 that she would be pursuing a solo project. Work on the album started in early 2022, with Mayberry citing Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Annie Lennox, Jenny Lewis, Sinéad O'Connor as influences. Lauren Mayberry
Lauren Eve Mayberry (born 7 October 1987) is a Scottish musician who is the vocalist and percussionist of the Pop music, pop band CHVRCHES. In CHVRCHES, Mayberry co-writes and co-produces the songs with Iain Cook and Martin Doherty, and sings as the lead vocalist. She also plays drums and keyboards. Mayberry is a soprano. Outside of music, she is an active feminist and philanthropist. She achieved considerable commercial success with Chvrches, releasing four studio albums to date – ''The Bones of What You Believe'' (2013), ''Every Open Eye'' (2015), ''Love Is Dead (Chvrches album), Love Is Dead'' (2018) and ''Screen Violence'' (2021). ''Screen Violence'' is the fourth studio album by Scottish synth-pop band Chvrches. It was released on 27 August 2021 through EMI Records in the UK and Glassnote Records in the US. Lead single " He Said She Said" was released on 19 April. The album was announced alongside the second single, "How Not to Drown", a collaboration with Robert Smith, lead singer of the Cure. The album was promoted with a North American tour from November to December 2021. Martin Clifford Doherty (born 24 December 1982) is a Scottish musician, singer and record producer. He is a member of Glasgow-based pop band Chvrches, with whom he has recorded four studio albums. Prior to forming Chvrches, Doherty was a touring member of the indie rock bands The Twilight Sad and Aereogramme. Doherty plays keyboards, sampler, guitar and performs main vocals and backing vocals. Iain Andrew Cook (born 2 November 1974) is a Scottish musician, composer, record producer, and member of Glasgow-based pop band Chvrches. He played guitar for the Scottish post-rock band Aereogramme until their breakup in 2007. Cook also composes music for film and television and is a member of the rock band The Unwinding Hours. Biography Prior to the formation of Aereogramme, Cook, who was using the alias Johnny Dymes, was a member of Les Tinglies. In 1998, Cook founded Aereogramme with Craig B., Campbell McNeil and Martin Scott. The band released their debut album '' A Story in White'' in 2001, through Chemikal Underground record label. ''Love Is Dead'' is the third studio album by Scottish synth-pop band Chvrches. It was released on 25 May 2018 by Virgin EMI Records and Goodbye Records.
