Vice-President of French Polynesia ( French: ''Vice-présidente de la Polynésie française'') is a senior governmental position in French Polynesia. The office holder is appointed by the President of French Polynesia. Before the establishment of executive presidential office, in 1977 the office of vice president of the government council was established. The officeholders were Francis Sanford June 1977 - June 1982, and Gaston Flosse June 1982 - September 1984. Antony Géros
Antony Daniel Teva Géros (; born 22 July 1956) is a French Polynesian politician and current President of the Assembly of French Polynesia. He has previously served as a Cabinet Minister, and three times as Vice-President of French Polynesia. Since 2020 he has served as Mayor of Paea. He is a member of pro-independence party Tavini Huiraatira. Early life Géros was born in Papeete and worked as secretary of the town of Faaa before entering politics. He joined the pro-independence Tavini Huiraatira party in 1986, and has served on the municipal council of Paea since 1995. Politics of French Polynesia takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic French overseas collectivity, whereby the President of French Polynesia is the head of government, and of a multi-party system. Minarii Chantal Galenon-Taupua (born 1956) is a French Polynesian teacher, women's rights activist, politician, and Cabinet Minister. She has been Vice-President of French Polynesia since 3 June 2024. She has been an elected member of the French Polynesian Assembly since 2008 and is President of the French Polynesian Women's Council. Biography Galenon was born on Tahiti and grew up in Patutoa in Papeete. A former primary school teacher, from 2001 to 2008 Galenon served on Papeete Municipal Council. From 2008 she was an elected member of the French Polynesian Assembly representing the a Union for Democracy (UPLD) party. She was previously a supporter of Tahoeraa Huiraatira, but resigned from the party in December 2009. Eliane Tevahitua (born 23 July 1958) is a French Polynesian politician and Cabinet Minister who was Vice-President of French Polynesia from 2023 to 2024. She is a member of Tavini Huiraatira. Tevahitua was born in Papeete and worked as a midwife. From 1994 to 2013 she was director of the School of Midwives. Jean-Christophe Matahuira Bouissou (born 28 October 1960) is a French Polynesian politician and leader of the Rautahi political party. He was Vice-President of French Polynesia from 2021 to 2023. Teva Rohfritsch (born 3 February 1975) is a French Polynesian politician and former Cabinet Minister. Since 2020 he has been one of French Polynesia's two senators in the French Senate, sitting with the Rally of Democrats, Progressives and Independents. Tearii Te Moana Alpha (born 5 December 1971) is a French Polynesian politician. Since 2014 he has served as Mayor of Teva I Uta. He was Vice-President of French Polynesia briefly in 2011, and again from 2020-2021. He is a founding member of Tahoeraa Huiraatira. Jules Ienfa is a French Polynesian medical doctor, politician, and former Cabinet Minister, who served as Vice-President of French Polynesia and Minister of Health in the government of Gaston Tong Sang.
