Jules Ienfa
Jules Ienfa is a French Polynesian medical doctor, politician, and former Cabinet Minister, who served as Vice-President of French Polynesia and Minister of Health in the government of Gaston Tong Sang. Ienfa previously worked as head doctor of the child protection services. He worked as an adviser to health minister Michel Buillard, and then for Assembly President Justin Arapari. He returned to the health department, ultimately rising to the position of director, but was sacked by Oscar Temaru. In December 2007, he was appointed to the cabinet of Gaston Tong Sang as Minister of Health and Solidarity. He lost the position when Tong Sang's government was replaced by that of Oscar Temaru, but was appointed as vice president and Minister of Health when Tong Sang regained power in April 2008. Gaston Tong Sang
Gaston Tong Sang (born 7 August 1949 in Bora Bora) is a French Polynesian politician and is the former President of French Polynesia. He served terms as President of French Polynesia from November 2009 until April 2011, from April 2008 until February 2009 and from December 2006 until September 2007; he is currently (since 1989) the Mayor of Bora-Bora. He is of Chinese descent, and is a founding member of French Polynesia's pro-French Tahoera'a Huiraatira political party. Personal life Tong Sang was born in Bora Bora. Hao (French Polynesia)
Hao, or Haorangi, is a large coral atoll in the central part of the Tuamotu Archipelago. It has c. 1000 people living on . It was used to house the military support base for the nuclear tests on Mururoa. Because of its shape, French explorer Louis Antoine de Bougainville named it "Île de la Harpe" (Harp Island). Geography Hao is east of Tahiti. It is long and wide. The lagoon is the fourth largest atoll in French Polynesia (after Rangiroa, Fakarava, and Makemo) and has only one navigable passage, at Kaki, on the north end of the atoll where strong currents prevail up to 20 knots with bores. 2013 French Polynesian Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in French Polynesia on 21 April and 5 May 2013. The result was a landslide victory for the Tahoera'a Huiraatira party, which won 38 of the 57 seats in the Assembly. Electoral system The election was held using a two round system. In the first round, parties were required to cross a threshold of 12.5% in order to participate in the second round, although parties receiving between 5% and 12.5% were allowed to form an alliance for the second round with a party that did qualify. Oscar Temaru
Oscar Manutahi Temaru (born November 1, 1944) is a Tahitian politician. He has been the president of French Polynesia, an overseas collectivity of France, on five occasions: in 2004, from 2005 to 2006, from 2007 to 2008, in 2009, and from 2011 to 2013. He has also been mayor of Faʻaʻā since 1983. Career He first served as the President of French Polynesia (''président de la Polynésie française'') from June 15, 2004 until his Government lost a no-confidence motion on October 8, 2004.
