Vic Aanensen
Vic Aanensen (16 January 1953 – 13 June 2025) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Port Melbourne in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) and South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1970s and 1980s. A ruckman, Aanensen started his career with Port Melbourne in 1970. He was recruited by South Melbourne for the 1973 VFL season, and played 40 games for the club before returning to Port Melbourne without a clearance. Aanensen played 129 games for Port Melbourne in his two stints at the club. He won the J. J. Liston Trophy The J. J. The Port Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Borough, is an Australian rules football club based in the inner-Melbourne suburb of Port Melbourne. The club was founded in 1874 and has been competing in the Victorian Football League (VFL) – formerly known as the Victorian Football Association (VFA) – since 1886, and the VFL Women's (VFLW) since 2021. The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football competition in Australia operated by the Australian Football League (AFL) as a second-tier, regional, semi-professional competition. 1973 VFL Season
The 1973 VFL season was the 77th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 7 April until 29 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top five clubs. The premiership was won by the Richmond Football Club for the eighth time, after it defeated by 30 points in the 1973 VFL Grand Final.
