Vestsjælland
West Zealand County () is a former counties of Denmark, county (Danish language, Danish: ''Amt (subnational entity), amt'') in the west-central part of the island of Zealand (Denmark), Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The county was formed on 1 April 1970, comprising a few former counties. The county was abolished effective January 1, 2007, when it merged into Region Sjælland (i.e. ''Region Zealand''). The county was responsible for public hospitals, upper secondary schools and schools for Higher Preparatory Examination, public transport and social welfare for the disabled. The County Hall was located in the town of Sorø, and became the seat of the new Regions of Denmark, region. Sorø is by no means the biggest city in West Zealand, but it has great historical value. Hashøj Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Hashøj Municipality was a municipality (Danish language, Danish: ''List of municipalities of Denmark (1970–2006), kommune'') in the former West Zealand County, on southwest Zealand, in eastern Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 130.75 km2, and had a total population of 6,681 (2006). Its last mayor was Troels Christensen, a member of the Venstre (Denmark), Venstre party. Hashøj Municipality bordered Skælskør Municipality to the south, Korsør Municipality to the west, Slagelse Municipality (1970-2006), Slagelse Municipality to the north, Sorø Municipality (1970-2006), Sorø Municipality to the northeast and Fuglebjerg Municipality to the east. The municipality ceased to exist as the result of Municipalities of Denmark#Municipal Reform 2007, ''Kommunalreformen 2007'' (the Municipality Reform of 2007).
