Vestnes is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Møre og Romsdal Counties of Norway, county, Norway. Vestnes is part of the Districts of Norway, traditional district of Romsdal. The administrative centre of the municipality is the Vestnes (village), village of Vestnes. Other villages in the municipality include Vikebukt, Vik, Vestnes, Vik, Vågstranda, Øverås, Fiksdal, Tomrefjord, and Tresfjord (village), Tresfjord. The area is known for nature and outdoor pursuits, and has a long history in ship building and maritime crafts. Vestnes Church
Vestnes Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vestnes Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Vestnes. It is the church for the Vestnes parish which is part of the Indre Romsdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1872 by Anders Johnsen Berg who used plans drawn up by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 480 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1589, when it was an annex to the Old Veøy Church. At that time, it was already an old stave church. The first church in Vestnes was a small wooden building that was possibly constructed in the 14th century on a site about northwest of the present-day site of the church. Vestnes (village)
Vestnes or Helland is the administrative centre of Vestnes Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The village is located on the western shore of the Tresfjorden, near where the fjord empties into the main Romsdalsfjord. The village lies along the European route E39 highway. The village has a population (2024) of 2,618 and a population density of . The villages of Vik and Tomrefjord lie about to the southwest, the village of Tresfjord lies about to the south, and the village of Vikebukt lies directly across the Tresfjorden from Vestnes. The Tresfjord Bridge was completed in 2015, connecting Vikebukt to the southern part of Vestnes by bridge rather than an estimated 30-minute drive all the way around the fjord. Mandal is a town in Lindesnes municipality in Agder county, Norway. Mandal is the fourth largest town in Agder as well as the administrative centre of Lindesnes municipality.
