Vesti (VGTRK)
''Vesti'' (, "News") is a brand used by the Russian broadcaster All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, VGTRK and the regional GTRKs for their television, radio, and online news services. History The very first edition of ''Vesti'' went on air on 13 May 1991 at 17:00. With that, the RTV channel began its broadcast, now known as Russia-1. From May 14, ''Vesti'' began broadcasting 15 minutes-long editions at 20:00 and 23:00. Compared to ''Vremya'', Vesti was innovative in terms of news presentation. For the first months of broadcast it was an opposition media, supportive of Boris Yeltsin and the Democratic Russia party. After the August coup and Dissolution of the Soviet Union, breakup of the Soviet Union, Vesti turned into official news bulletin of the new, post-Soviet Russia. Ernest Gedrevich Mackevičius (; ; 25 November 1968) is a Russian journalist and TV host. Presenter of the programs Good Morning, Russia (2002–2005) and Vesti (since 2006). Biography Born on 25 November 1968 in Vilnius. Ernest's father is theatre director Giedrius Mackevičius. Mother Marina Mackevičienė is a journalist with the newspaper Vechernyaya Moskva. Evgeny Georgievich Popov (; born September 11, 1978) is a Russian politician, journalist and a deputy of the 8th State Duma. Career After graduating from the university, Popov started working as a correspondent of the Vesti TV program in Vladivostok.
