Very Nice Track Club
The Very Nice Track Club is a training group composed of middle- and long-distance runners based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The group is coached by former University of Michigan track and field coach Ron Warhurst. The name of the club traces takes its origin in Warhurst's habit of yelling "very nice" at his athletes, words that he had tattooed on his butt at the 1992 Olympic Trials. The group is very loosely based with no collective sponsor for all athletes and with many athletes training in different regions at different times, however they all retain affiliation with Warhurst as a coach. As of 2024, the VNTC is working towards becoming a nonprofit organization, with the goal of being able to host events for runners around Ann Arbor, Michigan. Track And Field
Track and field (or athletics in British English) is a sport that includes Competition#Sports, athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name used in North America is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. Though the sense of "athletics" as a broader sport is not used in American English, outside of the United States the term ''athletics'' can either be used to mean just its track and field component or the entirety of the sport (adding road racing and cross country) based on context. Mason Ferlic
Mason Ferlic (born August 5, 1993) is an American long-distance runner. He competed in the steeplechase during the 2020 Summer Olympics. Early life Ferlic attended Mounds Park Academy in Maplewood, Minnesota. His Junior year he won the state 3200m and fisnished runner up in the 1600m. The following year he won the state cross country meet as well as the 1600m and 3200m in track. He was named the Minnesota Gatorade track and field athlete of the year in 2011. College career Ferlic ran for the Michigan Wolverines. He ended his freshman year of cross country by making the varsity roster for NCAA nationals where he finished in 252nd, last place in the race. He redshirted his freshman year for indoor and outdoor track. During the 2013 cross country season he finished 22nd at NCAA nationals earning All-American honors. Danielle "Dani" Jones (born August 21, 1996) is an American middle-distance runner. She is a four-time NCAA Division I champion winning two gold medals at the 2017 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 3000-meters and Indoor Distance Medley Relay, a gold in 2018 in Cross-Country, and later won the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 5000-meters. Charles Da'Vall Grice (born 7 November 1993), informally known as Charlie Grice, is a British middle-distance athlete. Athletics career Grice started out as both a footballer, playing at county level, and an athlete, but balancing them both led to injuries, and he decided to solely focus on athletics. He had a breakthrough in 2010, when he broke the English Schools' Athletics Association Championships record in the final of the 1500 metres as well as taking the title. He went on from this to win bronze at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in the 1000 metres, after coming second at the European Trials event in Russia. In 2012 he broke Steve Ovett's British junior mile record, running 3:57.90 at the London Grand Prix in Crystal Palace as part of the Diamond League. Bryce Hoppel ( ; born September 5, 1997) is an American middle-distance runner who specializes in the 800 meters. He is the reigning 800 meters world indoor champion having won gold at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships - Men's 800 metres, 2024 World Indoor Championships in Glasgow. He also is a seven-time U.S. champion and two-time NCAA champion over the distance. Morgan Beadlescomb
Morgan Beadlescomb (born June 1, 1998) is an American middle-distance and long-distance runner currently representing Adidas. Early years Beadlescomb attended Algonac High School in Algonac, Michigan. He won the Lower Peninsula D2 Cross Country state finals in 2014 and 2015. On the track he was the 2015 and 2016 Lower Peninsula D2 state champions in the 1600 running 4:13 both years. After his senior year was awarded the Times Herald Male Runner of the Year. Collegiate career After high school he attended Michigan State University for six years earning both a bachelors and a master's degree.
