The municipality existed from 1901 until its dissolution in 2020 when it was divided between Steinkjer Municipality and Indre Fosen Municipality. It was part of the Innherred region. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Malm. Other villages in Verran included Follafoss, Sela, Verrabotn, and Verrastranda. At the time of its dissolution in 2020, the municipality was the 185th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Mosvik Og Verran
Mosvik og Verran is a former municipality in the old Nord-Trøndelag county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1867 until 1901 when it was split into two. It was located on the Fosen peninsula, on the west side of the Trondheimsfjord. It included the southern part of what is now the municipality of Inderøy and the southern part of the present municipality of Steinkjer. The municipality was centered around the Verrasundet strait, a branch of the Trondheimsfjord. The administrative centre was the village of Mosvik where the Mosvik Church was located. This is a list of former municipalities of Norway, i.e. municipalities that no longer exist. When the local council system was introduced in Norway in 1837-38, the country had 392 municipalities. In 1958 the number had grown to a total of 744 rural municipalities, 64 city municipalities as well as a small number of small seaports with '' ladested'' status. A committee led by Nikolai Schei, formed in 1946 to examine the situation, proposed hundreds of mergers to reduce the number of municipalities and improve the quality of local administration. Most of the mergers were carried out, albeit to significant popular protest. As of January 2006 there are 431 municipalities in Norway, and there are plans for further mergers and political pressure to do so. Mosvik
Mosvik is a former municipality in the old Nord-Trøndelag county in Norway. The municipality was part of the Innherred region. The municipality existed from 1901 until its dissolution in 2012. The old municipality encompassed the southern part of what is now the municipality of Inderøy in Trøndelag county. The municipality was located along the western shore of the Trondheimsfjorden and on the southwestern end of the Beitstadfjorden. Follafoss
Follafoss is a village in the municipality of Steinkjer in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village lies on the northern shore of the Beitstadfjorden, about halfway between the east and west end of the fjord. Follafoss village is about southwest of the village of Malm and about northeast of the village of Verrastranda. The Follaelva river empties into the Trondheimsfjord at Follafoss.
