Vernon Hamersley
Vernon Hamersley (1871–1946) was an Australian politician. He served the longest term ever as a Member of the Western Australian Legislative Council. Biography Early life Vernon Hamersley was born in Guildford, Western Australia. The son of Samuel Hamersley, he was a member of the prominent and well-connected Hamersley family. His grandfather was Edward Hamersley (Snr); among his uncles was Edward Hamersley (Jnr) and Maitland Brown; and he was related by blood or marriage to many prominent Western Australians including John Forrest and William Locke Brockman. He was educated at Guildford Grammar School, before continuing his studies in England at the Magdalen College, Oxford, Magdalen College School at Oxford, and the Downton Agricultural College at Salisbury. Mount Barnett Station
Mount Barnett Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in Western Australia. It is situated approximately north of Fitzroy Crossing and east of Derby in the Kimberley region. Manning Creek runs through the property and the tourist destination, Manning Gorge, is also found within the station boundaries. The property is accessed off the Gibb River Road. The pastoral lease is currently held by the Kupungarri Aboriginal Corporation. The property had been established prior to 1903 when it was stocked by cattle that were taken from Fitzroy Crossing and across the King Leopold Ranges (modern-day Wunaamin Miliwundi Ranges) in the first drove across the range. In the same year the station was being managed by Mick O'Connor who remained there until at least 1912. In 1912 it was owned by the Rose Brothers. Edward Vivian Harvey Keane (8 August 1844 – 9 July 1904) was an Australian engineer, businessman, and politician. Born in Birkenhead, England, he was educated at Christ's Hospital, and emigrated to Melbourne, Victoria, in 1876. Keane then moved to South Australia, where he worked as a railway engineer. He later moved to Western Australia, where he served in both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council. Early life Keane was born on 8 August 1844 in Birkenhead, Cheshire.
