Verner Nielsen
Eigil Verner Nielsen (14 May 1931 – 22 February 2023) was a Danish football player in the defender position, who played 26 games for the Denmark national football team. Biography Nielsen was born in Nørresundby, and was spotted by Knud Lundberg, coach of Copenhagen club Akademisk Boldklub (AB), during a summer trip to northern Jutland. Nielsen became the first player with no academic background to play for AB, where he gained popularity due to his fighting spirit and technique. He made his debut for the Danish national team in September 1955. After ending his active career, he ran an auto repair shop, but continued to play football even after he turned 75. Nørresundby
Nørresundby () is a city in Aalborg Municipality, north of Limfjorden, in Vendsyssel, in Denmark. The urban area has a population of 24,436 (1 January 2025). It is located just north of Aalborg, which lies south of Limfjorden. Statistically its own urban area since 2006, it is often still considered part of Aalborg; sometimes the name Greater Aalborg (''Stor-Aalborg'') is used to describe the concept. The city is connected to Aalborg by the Limfjordsbroen road bridge, and an iron railway bridge, as well as a motorway (E45) passing it to the east and running under the Limfjord. TV3 Sport is a Danish sports television channel, owned by Viaplay Group and operated by TV3 SPORT. The channel originally broadcast as TV 2 SPORT and was a joint-venture between TV 2 and Modern Times Group. MTG launched a dedicated Danish version of its Viasat Sport channel in January 2002. In December 2006, TV 2 and MTG announced that they would enter a partnership to launch TV 2 SPORT and its sister channel TV 2 SPORT Xtra (later renamed TV 2 SPORT HD).
