David Vergé
David Vergé (born 10 January 1972) is a Wallisian politician. He represented Wallis and Futuna in the French National Assembly from 2012 to 2013 and was president of the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna from 2017 to 2019. Vergé was born in La Fère in France and is a businessman. He was first elected to the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna in the constituency of Hahake in the 2012 Wallis and Futuna Territorial Assembly election. He was elected to the French National Assembly in the second round of the 2012 French legislative election in the constituency of Wallis and Futuna with 41.6% of the votes cast, with the support of the Rassemblement pour Wallis-et-Futuna (RPWF), the local federation of the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) led by former MP Victor Brial. The verge was an area of radius around the court of the monarch of England, and later Britain, that was subject to special legal jurisdiction in some aspects. A Court of the Verge heard legal cases arising from within the verge or pertaining to members of the Royal Household. The Verge, Singapore
The Verge, formerly Tekka Mall ( Chinese: 德卡廊), was the first and largest modern shopping mall at the Little India precinct in Singapore. It was opened in 2003. The Verge had two buildings, the main building and Chill @ The Verge. It was located in the southern part of Little India, with the main building located at the junction of Serangoon Road and Sungei Road and the Chill @ The Verge at the junction of Perak Road and Sungei Road. Both of the buildings were separated by Clive Street and the mall lies opposite of Tekka Centre across Serangoon Road. The complex was demolished in 2017 to make way for redevelopment after 14 years of operation, making it one of the youngest malls in Singapore to shut its doors. A road verge is a strip of groundcover consisting of grass or garden plants, and sometimes also shrubs and trees, located between a roadway and a sidewalk. Verges are known by dozens of other names such as grass strip, nature strip, curb strip, or park strip, the usage of which is often quite regional. Road verges are often considered public property, with maintenance usually being a municipal responsibility. Some local authorities, however, require abutting property owners to help maintain (e.g. watering, mowing, edging, trimming/ pruning and weeding) their respective verge areas, as well as clean the adjunct footpaths and gutters, as a form of community work. A virge or verge () is a type of rod, made of wood. Etymology Originally it was one or more branches (the French often use ''verges'', the plural of its equivalent, as the normal word for a rod, the rarer singular ''verge'' rather indicates a switch) used as an instrument for corporal punishment, or as a riding crop. It later became a symbol of civil office, used in ceremonies of swearing fealty (from which the legal term ''tenant by the verge'' is derived). Marshalsea Court
The Marshalsea Court (or Court of the Marshalsea, also known as the Court of the Verge or the Court of the Marshal and Steward) was a court associated with the Royal Household in England. Associated with, but distinct from, the Marshalsea Court was the Palace Court, which came into being in the 17th century. Both courts had jurisdiction within a geographical area known as the Verge of the court, which was fixed by statute of Richard II as extending 12 miles from the King's palace or place of residence. The Marshalsea and Palace Courts were both abolished on 31 December 1849.
