Venom are an English heavy metal music, heavy metal band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1978. Newcastle upon Tyne, or simply Newcastle ( , Received Pronunciation, RP: ), is a City status in the United Kingdom, cathedral city and metropolitan borough in Tyne and Wear, England. Anthony Lant
Antony "Antton" Lant is an English drummer, best known for his time with thrash metal band Venom. He was the band's drummer from 2000 to 2009 and recorded three albums with them. His oldest brother is Graham Lant, former drummer of Prefab Sprout,. He is a direct cousin of the frontman of Enthroned, Nornagest. Lant left Venom in 2009 so he could concentrate on his groove metal band Def-Con-One. He was also a part of the metal band Dryll together with former Venom guitarist Jeffrey Dunn. Although he is best known as a drummer, he is also an avid guitarist. Lant played drums for Mpire of Evil (formerly Primevil) alongside Jeffrey Dunn and Tony Dolan until 2012 before leaving to concentrate on Def-Con-One. Bathory (band)
Bathory was a Swedish extreme metal band formed in Vällingby in March 1983. Named after Hungarian countess Elizabeth Báthory, they are considered pioneers of black metal (alongside Venom, Hellhammer and Mercyful Fate) and Viking metal. The book '' Lords of Chaos'' described Bathory's first four albums as "the blueprint for Scandinavian black metal." The band stopped performing live early on in its career and never toured; frontman, founder and main songwriter Tomas "Quorthon" Forsberg was the sole constant member, and was at times responsible for all instruments. Mercyful Fate
Mercyful Fate is a Danish heavy metal band from Copenhagen, formed in 1981 by vocalist King Diamond and guitarist Hank Shermann. Influenced by progressive rock and hard rock, and with lyrics dealing with LaVeyan Satanism (often with ironic or sardonic use of Christian themes) and the occult, Mercyful Fate was part of the first wave of black metal in the early to mid-1980s, along with Venom and Bathory. The first wave of black metal was a musical movement of black metal which lasted from around 1982 until 1991.
