Venkatesh Desai
Venkatesh Atmaram Desai (born 5 July 1948/49) is an Indian politician and businessperson from Goa. He is a former member of the Goa Legislative Assembly, representing the Valpoi Assembly constituency from 1999 to 2002. He also served as a council minister in the Sardinha ministry. Early and personal life Venkatesh Atmaram Desai was born in Advoi- Sattari, Goa. He is married to Suvarna Desai. He completed his 7th grade from Marathi Mulanchi Shala, Khanapur in 1960. Desai later completed his diploma in mechanical engineering. He is also a businessperson and farmer by profession. He currently resides at Sattari, Goa. Political career Prior contesting the Goa Legislative elections in 1999, Desai served as a sarpanch of the Pissurlem '' panchayat'' from 1981 to 1986. The Goa Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the state of Goa in India. The Assembly meets at the Goa State Legislative Assembly Complex in Porvorim, Bardez. The Eighth Goa Legislative Assembly consists of 40 members. The assembly is in charge of the budget, the Assembly appropriates money for social programs, agricultural development, infrastructure development, etc. It is also responsible for proposing and levying taxes. The Panchayat raj is a political system, originating from the Indian subcontinent, found mainly in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. It is the oldest system of local government in the Indian subcontinent, and historical mentions date to the 250 CE period. Kadamba Transport Corporation
Kadamba Transport Corporation ( Konkani: कदंब येरादारी म्हामंडळ) abbreviated as KTC is a Government of Goa road transport undertaking. It was set up in 1980 by then Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane. Goa has long been dependent on privatised bus-transport, and the blue-and-red-and-white Kadamba buses are an exception to this rule. While the KTC has provided transport and connectivity to Goa's main towns and rural hinterland, it has also, in recent years, faced charges of mismanagement, politicisation and corruption in some of its deals. The corporation is named after the Kadambas of Goa and the royal lion emblem of the Kadambas is used a logo on its buses. The lion emblem logo became an integral part of KTCL since its inception in 1980 when the corporation was set up to provide better public transport service. Vishwajit Pratapsingh Rane (born 23 March 1971) is an Indian politician and a cabinet Minister in the Government of Goa headed by Pramod Sawant. He is the son of Pratapsingh Raoji Rane who is a former Chief Minister of Goa and an incumbent Indian National Congress party MLA in the Goa Legislative Assembly. Vishwajit Rane was the Minister of Health, Agriculture & Craftsmen Training in the Government of Goa led by Digambar Kamat from June 2007 to March 2012. The Goa legislative assembly election was held on 3 March 2012, to select the 40 members of the Sixth Goa Legislative Assembly, as the term of Sixth Legislative Assembly ended on March 2012. The result was announced on 6 March. The Bharatiya Janata Party-Maharashtrawadi Gomantak alliance defeated the incumbent Indian National Congress government in Goa led by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat with 24 seats in the 40-seat assembly.
