Venezuela First
Venezuela First ( es, Primero Venezuela; PV) is a Venezuelan political party led by former members of the opposition coalition Democratic Unity Roundtable. History Origins It is made up of a split of militants expelled from the Primero Justicia (PJ) party and other political groups, who took control of it as a result of an intervention order from the Supreme Court of Justice months before the 2020 parliamentary election. The majority of deputies of the IV legislature of Parliament who deserted the ranks of the Democratic Unity Roundtable, after being accused of the corruption and vote-buying scandal, known by various media as Operación Alacrán, focused on this training. 2021 Venezuelan Regional Elections
Regional and municipal elections were held in Venezuela on 21 November 2021. In the elections, all executive and legislative positions of the 23 federal entities, as well as that of the 335 municipalities of the country, were renewed. The pro-government majority National Assembly repealed the Law of Regularization of State and Municipal Powers which prevented regional and municipal elections taking place simultaneously, allowing to convene joint elections of governors and mayors the same year. Afterwards, new rectors of the National Electoral Council (CNE) were appointed, the majority of members being pro-government. Yaracuy
Yaracuy State ( es, link=no, Estado Yaracuy, ;) is one of the 23 states of Venezuela. It is bordered by Falcón in the north, in the west by Lara, in the south by Portuguesa and Cojedes and in the east by Cojedes and Carabobo. Its geography is mountainous: the Andes range ends there, and the Coastal Range begins. It is split by two mountainous systems, the Sierra de Aroa on the North and the Sierra de Nirgua. In between lies the agricultural land drained by the Yaracuy River. Most cities and towns are in this valley, including its capital San Felipe. Popular Will ( es, Voluntad Popular, abbr. VP) is a political party in Venezuela founded by former Mayor of Chacao, Leopoldo López, who is its national co-ordinator. The party describes itself as progressive and social-democratic and was admitted into the Socialist International in December 2014, although observers have also described it as centre to centre-left. The party previously held 14 out of 167 seats in the Venezuelan National Assembly, the country's parliament, and is a member of the Democratic Unity Roundtable, the electoral coalition that held a plurality in the National Assembly between 2015 and 2020. Operación Alacrán (English: ''Operation Scorpion''), also known as CLAP affair or PSUV-CLAP faction, is the name given to a corruption plot which was denounced in 2019 by the members of the National Assembly of Venezuela. It would have sought to avoid the re-election of Juan Guaidó on 5 January 2020 as President of the Assembly, by obtaining the support of opposing legislators in exchange for millions of dollars. Legislators would have been asked to vote against Guaidó, or to not attend the election and thereby break the necessary quorum. 2020 Venezuelan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Venezuela on 6 December 2020. Aside from the 167 deputies of the National Assembly who are eligible to be re-elected, the new National Electoral Council president announced that the assembly would increase by 110 seats, for a total of 277 deputies to be elected. The opposition parties that make up the Democratic Unity Roundtable coalition agreed unanimously not to participate in the election, stating the reason as irregularities and their complaints during the planning of the process and arguing that it was likely the election would be fraudulent.
