Veneto Autonomous Region Movement
The Veneto Autonomous Region Movement (''Movimento Veneto Regione Autonoma'', MVRA) was a Venetist political party active in Veneto. MVRA was launched in 1987 by Geppino and Umberto Vecchiato (splinters of Liga Veneta) and by Giulio Pizzati's Liga Federativa Veneta (LFV), founded in 1983. The party included also Flaminio De Poli, who had been one of the most outspoken independentist figures in Veneto so far and who had been particularly critical of the alliance between Liga Veneta and Lega Lombarda. Regionalism is a political ideology that seeks to increase the political power, influence and self-determination of the people of one or more subnational regions. It focuses on the "development of a political or social system based on one or more" regions, and/or the national, normative, or economic interests of a specific region, group of regions or another subnational entity, gaining strength from or aiming to strengthen the "consciousness of and loyalty to a distinct region with a homogeneous population", similarly to nationalism. More specifically, "regionalism refers to three distinct elements: movements demanding territorial autonomy within unitary states; the organization of the central state on a regional basis for the delivery of its policies including regional development policies; political decentralization and regional autonomy". Raixe Venete
Raixe Venete (translation: Venetian Roots) is a Venetist cultural association. Founded in 2002, Raixe Venete is aimed at "keeping the Venetian identity alive through the promotion, the protection and the circulation of the millennial Venetian culture, in all its forms, from history to language, from tradition to music". The association publishes a journal in Venetian and has connections with kin organisations and separatists from all over Europe, especially from the Basque Country and Catalonia. Its most prominents members have included Davide Guiotto and Alberto Montagner. Raixe Venete's leading event takes place every year on the first weekend of September in Cittadella. Venetian Nationalism
Venetian nationalism (also Venetism, from the Venetian/Italian name, ''venetismo'') is a nationalist, but primarily regionalist, political movement active mostly in Veneto, Italy, as well as in other parts of the former Republic of Venice. Generally speaking, Venetists promote the distinct Venetian identity and the rediscovery of the Republic of Venice's heritage, traditions, culture, and language and/or demand more autonomy or even independence for Veneto from Italy.
