Vellinge Municipality
Vellinge Municipality (''Vellinge kommun'') is a municipality in Skåne County in southern Sweden. Its seat is located in Vellinge. The present municipality is a result of the latest local government reform in Sweden. In 1974 the municipalities of '' Räng'', ''Vellinge'' and '' Månstorp'' (all three created through amalgamation of even smaller units in 1952) amalgamated with the former ''Town of Skanör med Falsterbo'' to form a new Vellinge Municipality. The municipality is considered to be one of the most economically well-off in Sweden, politically governed by a stable majority of the liberal conservative Moderate Party. Due to its low taxes, Vellinge Municipality is mainly populated by middle-class families, many commuting to Malmö. Localities There were eight localities in the municipality in 2018. All of the urban areas are best characterized as affluent suburbs of the greater Malmö. Skanör-Falsterbo was an important medieval town. Elections Below are the resu ...

Municipalities Of Sweden
The municipalities of Sweden ( sv, Sveriges kommuner) are its lower-level local government entities. There are 290 municipalities which are responsible for a large proportion of local services, including schools, emergency services and physical planning. Foundation The Local Government Act of 1991 specifies several responsibilities for the municipalities, and provides outlines for local government, such as the process for electing the municipal assembly. It also regulates a process (''laglighetsprövning'', "legality trial") through which any citizen can appeal the decisions of a local government to a county court. Municipal government in Sweden is similar to city commission government and cabinet-style council government. A legislative municipal assembly ''( kommunfullmäktige)'' of between 31 and 101 members (always an odd number) is elected from party-list proportional representation at municipal elections, held every four years in conjunction with the national general e ...

Liberal Conservatism
Liberal conservatism is a political ideology combining conservative policies with liberal stances, especially on economic issues but also on social and ethical matters, representing a brand of political conservatism strongly influenced by liberalism. The ideology incorporates the classical liberal view of minimal government intervention in the economy, according to which individuals should be free to participate in the market and generate wealth without government interference. However, liberal conservatives also hold that individuals cannot be thoroughly depended on to act responsibly in other spheres of life; therefore, they believe that a strong state is necessary to ensure law and order and that social institutions are needed to nurture a sense of duty and responsibility to the nation. Liberal conservatives also support civil liberties, along with some socially conservative positions. Nevertheless, liberal conservatism differs from social conservatism in a sense t ...

Hököpinge
Hököpinge is a locality situated in Vellinge Municipality, SkÃ¥ne County, Sweden with 1,105 inhabitants in 2010. It lies about 2 km north of Vellinge. The village contains mostly older buildings along small roads. However, in the village's outer reach there are newly built four-storey buildings in "factory style" at the former factory. In 2017, a new plan for about 100 homes, a primary school and a shop has been approved. History Researchers believe that around the 12th century this was a marketplace, mainly because of its position. Hököpinge is located close to the sea and was well protected against wars inland, an ideal place for a marketplace. The name Hököpinge comes from the Old Norse word ''Haukrs'', which means "marketplace". In 1346 the name was spelled Hököpingel, in 1479 Hökiobinge and in 1567 Höykiöpinge. The main road that went between the two larger cities Malmö and Trelleborg went by Hököpinge and not by Vellinge. This stresses the importanc ...

Urban Areas In Sweden
An urban area or () in Sweden has a minimum of 200 inhabitants and may be a city, town or larger village. It is a purely statistical concept, not defined by any municipal or county boundaries. Larger urban areas synonymous with cities or towns ( sv, stad for both terms) for statistical purposes have a minimum of 10,000 inhabitants.. The same statistical definition is also used for urban areas in the other Nordic countries. In 2018, there were nearly two thousand urban areas in Sweden, which were inhabited by 87% of the Swedish population. ''Urban area'' is a common English translation of the Swedish term . The official term in English used by Statistics Sweden is, however, " locality" ( sv, ort). It could be compared with "census-designated places" in the United States. History Until the beginning of the 20th century, only the towns/cities were regarded as urban areas. The built-up area and the municipal entity were normally almost congruent. Urbanization and industrializat ...
