Velleia
''Velleia'' is a genus of herbs in the family Goodeniaceae. Of the 22 species, 21 are endemic to Australia, and one is endemic to New Guinea. The genus was named by James Edward Smith, after Thomas Velley. It grows on sand and clay, flowering from June to October. The Australian Plant Name Index indicates that the species was first described as ''Velleia glabrata'' by Carolin Carolin is a given name. ''Velleia connata'' is an erect annual herb in the family Goodeniaceae, and is found in all mainland states and territories of Australia. It grows on sandplains and stony hills in Beard's eremaean province. Its flowers are yellow-brown or white-pink and it flowers mainly from February or May to October. ''Velleia montana'', commonly known as mountain velleia, is a flowering plant in the family Goodeniaceae. It is a small, perennial herb with tubular yellow flowers, mainly growing in woodland and sub-alpine grasslands in New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. Description ''Velleia montana'' is a small herbaceous plant to high that forms a rosette. The leaves are oblanceolate to obovate, long, wide with toothed or smooth margins. The three sepals are separated, upper sepal oval to oblong-shaped and long. The yellow corolla is long, inner and outer surface covered with short, soft hairs. The scapes grow horizontally to high and mostly shorter than the leaves. The bracteoles are more or less linear-shaped, separated, up to long.
