Veldhoven () is a Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality and town on the Gender (stream), Gender in the southern Netherlands, just southwest of Eindhoven, in the Provinces of the Netherlands, province of North Brabant. Máxima Medisch Centrum
Máxima Medisch Centrum ( English: ''Maxima Medical Centre'') is a teaching hospital in the Netherlands, on two locations, in Veldhoven and Eindhoven. It was founded in 2002 through the merger of the Sint-Josephziekenhuis in Veldhoven and the Diaconessenhuis in Eindhoven, and was named after Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. The main location is in Veldhoven, with the location in Eindhoven serving for non-critical care. It is the second biggest hospital in the Eindhoven region, after the Catharina Ziekenhuis in Eindhoven. History Sint-Josephziekenhuis Plans for the Sint-Josephziekenhuis had existed since 1915. Building started in 1930 at the Aalsterweg in Eindhoven, and it opened on 9 June 1932. It was designed by architect Eduard Cuypers and had 200 beds. Gender (stream)
The Gender () is a stream in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It originates in originally marshy flatlands near Steensel and flows through Veldhoven and its eastern district Meerveldhoven in a general east-northeast direction towards Eindhoven. The Gender is one of many small streams that drain what once was the marshy heath and moorland of eastern North Brabant and the Kempen plateau. Similar streams include the Dommel, Kleine Dommel, Keersop, Tongelreep, Aa, Binnendieze and Run. All of these streams at one point or other merge to finally form River Dieze in Den Bosch, which in turn flows into River Maas. Near Eindhoven, the Gender originally flowed just north of the medieval city walls, serving as the north part of the city moat, to end in confluence with the Dommel stream. Oerle
Oerle is a village in the Netherlands, Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Veldhoven, about 7 km west of Eindhoven. The village was first mentioned in 1249 Oerle, and is a combination of "open forest" and "sand". Oerle was home to 152 people in 1840. Oerle was a separate municipality until 1921, when it became part of Veldhoven. The grist mill Sint Jan is reasonably new wind mill. It was constructed in 1987 from parts of demolished wind mills. The grain which is milled is sold by the miller. In the early 21st century, the village started to grow, and it is planned to grow to about 4,000 people.
