Vektroid
Ramona Andra Langley is an American electronic musician from Portland, Oregon. She has released music under her primary Vektroid alias, as well as others, such as dstnt, Laserdisc Visions, New Dreams Ltd., Virtual Information Desk, and PrismCorp Virtual Enterprises. Langley played a prominent role in the popularization of the vaporwave subgenre with the release of her ninth studio album, ''Floral Shoppe'', under the alias Macintosh Plus. Since then, she has continued to release music through Bandcamp and other online platforms. Career Langley began producing and releasing electronic music in 2005. She has released music through aliases, including Macintosh Plus, PrismCorp, and Laserdisc Visions, among others. She reports that she has put out over forty releases since 2005. ''Telnet Erotika'' is an extended play by electronic artist Vektroid released in November 2010. Inspiration The EP is dedicated to Oneohtrix Point Never, Vektroid's inspiration for making the EP, with a remix of her own song " Nobody Here" appearing here (which was itself sampled from Chris de Burgh's 1986 single " The Lady in Red"). Music videos for the tracks "Virgin Pegasus", "Surfin GeoCities" and "Video Update" were uploaded to her YouTube account. Vektroid re-released the EP as ''Telnet Complete'' on April 13, 2017, adding 12 new tracks and an edited version of the first track in the original EP. This version is on her Bandcamp page. ''Shader'' is the twelfth album by electronic musician Vektroid (under the one-time alias of ''Sacred Tapestry''). The album's musical style incorporates more drone and ambient influences compared to previous Vektroid vaporwave releases, and also includes elements of progressive electronic and new-age music. A remastered and edited version of the album titled ''Shader Complete'', was released in 2016. Changes from the original album include different titles, altered song lengths and structures, and the addition of two tracks recorded during the ''Color Ocean Road'' sessions. The album was re-released on vinyl and CD in 2018. Release The album was released on Valentine's Day simultaneously with ''Fuji Grid TV EX'' and ''Shader Complete'', reissues of her extended play ''Prism Genesis ''and her album ''Shader (album), Shader''. Context The album is part of the vaporwave genre and features samples of Japanese television commercials from the 1980s, particularly those advertising airlines and holiday destinations. The album was produced between February and March 2013 and it was first envisioned as a sequel to Prism Genesis under the title "Transcontinent". The album can be streamed on her Bandcamp. ''Prism Genesis'' is an extended play by American electronic and vaporwave artist Vektroid under the alias ''Fuji Grid TV'' released on August 2, 2011. The EP was first released through Tumblr on the same day as '' Black Horse / MIDI Dungeon'', and '' Initiation Tape'' which ''Prism Genesis'' was promoted along as an "A-side" companion. The EP is a chopped and screwed collage of various Japanese commercials taken from the 1980s, and is considered by fans to be one of the first vaporwave releases to have a signalwave aesthetic. Ryan DeRobertis (known by his stage names Skylar Spence and SAINT PEPSI) is an American electronic musician and singer who grew up in Farmingville, New York and attended Boston College for two years studying music. His electronic music project SAINT PEPSI began in December 2012. After the release of his ninth studio album ''Hit Vibes'' in May 2013, he would retire the SAINT PEPSI name due to legal threats from the soft-drink company PepsiCo. He would adopt the name Skylar Spence in 2015, and release his debut record under that moniker, ''Prom King''. Vaporwave
Vaporwave is a microgenre of electronic music, a visual art style, and an Internet meme that emerged in the early 2010s and became well-known in 2015. It is defined partly by its slowed-down, chopped and screwed samples of smooth jazz, 1970s elevator music, contemporary R&B, R&B, and lounge music from the 1980s and 1990s; similar to synthwave.
