The National Council (, ) is one of the two houses of the Austrian Parliament and is frequently referred to as the lower house. Responsibilities The National Council is where Austria's federal legislature, legislative authority is concentrated; for a bill to become federal law, it must be resolved upon by this chamber. NEOS (Austria)
NEOS – The New Austria and Liberal Forum () is a liberal political party in Austria. It was founded as NEOS – The New Austria in 2012. In 2014, NEOS merged with Liberal Forum and adopted its current name. Since 2018, Beate Meinl-Reisinger has been NEOS's chairwoman and was parliamentary leader until 2025, with Yannick Shetty taking over the position. It won 8.3% in the 2019 legislative election and 9.1% in the 2024 Austrian legislative election. NEOS is a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, and its two MEPs sit with the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament.
