Sandy Bull
Alexander "Sandy" Bull (February 25, 1941 – April 11, 2001) was an American folk musician and composer. Bull was an accomplished player of many stringed instruments, including guitar, pedal steel guitar, banjo, and oud. His early work blends non-western instruments with 1960s folk revival, and has been cited as important in the development of psychedelic music. Early life and education Born February 25, 1941, in New York City, Alexander "Sandy" Bull was the only child of Harry A. Bull, an editor in chief of '' Town & Country'' magazine, and Daphne van Beuren Bayne (1916–2002), a New Jersey banking heiress who became known as a jazz harpist under the name Daphne Hellman. ''Jukebox School of Music'' is the fifth album by folk guitarist Sandy Bull, released in 1988 through ROM Records. It was his first release in over fifteen years. Release and reception Allmusic writer Jason Ankeny wrote: "A walking encyclopedia of musical instruments and styles, Bull illustrates the sheer breadth of his mastery on ''Jukebox School of Music''." He gave the album three out of five stars, stating that despite being eclectic it is also exhausting overall. "Together Again" is a 1964 song by American country singer and guitarist Buck Owens. The song, best known as the "B" side to Owens' No. 1 hit, " My Heart Skips a Beat", interrupted that song's run at Number One on the U.S. country charts. Alvis Edgar "Buck" Owens Jr. (August 12, 1929 – March 25, 2006) was an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was the frontman for The Buckaroos, which had 21 No. 1 hits on the ''Billboard'' country music chart. He pioneered what came to be called the Bakersfield sound, named in honor of Bakersfield, California, Owens's adopted home and the city from which he drew inspiration for what he preferred to call "American music". While the Buckaroos originally featured a fiddle and retained pedal steel guitar into the 1970s, their sound on records and onstage was always more stripped-down and elemental.
