Vegfest (UK)
VegfestUK is an annual vegan food festival held each year in various cities including London, Brighton and Bristol, starting in 2013. The 2019 festival in London included around 370 stalls (230 stalls in Brighton in the same year). Vegfest is one of the biggest Vegan/Vegetarian festivals in the world, with 14,500 visitors at the 2018 London Vegfest (compared to on average 8,000 visitors at VeggieWorld. Bristol VegfestUK started life in Bristol in 2003 under the name ''Bristol Vegan Fayre'', with the aim of showcasing the very best of a vegan lifestyle to the public. The organisers require all food and drinks supplied on site to be suitable for vegans. As well as a marketplace for the sampling, purchase and sale of vegan goods, the Bristol festivals also feature comedy, movies, chefs and cookery workshops, talks by nutritionists and campaigners, and children's entertainment during the day, followed by headline music in the evenings. The Abyssinians
The Abyssinians are a Jamaican roots reggae group, famous for their close harmonies and promotion of the Rastafari movement in their lyrics. History The vocal trio was originally formed in 1968 by Bernard Collins and Donald Manning. Their first song was " Satta Massagana", which was strongly influenced by Carlton Manning's "Happy Land". "Satta Massagana" is a Rastafarian hymn sung partly in the Ethiopian Amharic language. They recruited a third vocalist, who was still at school and often unable to attend rehearsals; he was soon replaced by Donald's brother Lynford Manning, who had previously been a member of their brother Carlton Manning's group Carlton and The Shoes. Fleetwood Town F
Fleetwood is a coastal town in the Borough of Wyre in Lancashire, England, at the northwest corner of the Fylde. It had a population of 25,939 at the United Kingdom Census 2011, 2011 census. Fleetwood acquired its modern character in the 1830s, when the principal landowner Peter Hesketh-Fleetwood, High Sheriff and MP, conceived an ambitious plan to re-develop the town to make it a busy seaport and railway spur. He commissioned the Victorian architect Decimus Burton to design a number of substantial civic buildings, including two lighthouses. Hesketh-Fleetwood's transport terminus schemes failed to materialise. The town expanded greatly in the first half of the 20th century with the growth of the fishing industry, and passenger ferries to the Isle of Man, to become a Commercial trawler, deep-sea fishing port. Dean George Howell (born 29 November 1980) is an English former professional footballer, who played at left-back or left-midfield. Schoolboy and trainee Howell started as a schoolboy at Stoke City before moving to Notts County as a trainee. He then signed a professional contract in July 1999. Howell was then loaned out to Spalding United for the 1999–2000 season. Career In July 2000, Howell then joined Crewe Alexandra, after impressed manager Dario Gradi during his two-week trial. CBeebies is a British free-to-air public broadcast children's television channel owned and operated by the BBC. It is also the brand used for all BBC content for children aged 6 years and under. Sarah-Jane Honeywell (born 5 January 1974) is an English actress, writer, TV and radio presenter, blogger and singer. She is best known for her work on the CBeebies television channel. As well as appearing on pre-school TV, Honeywell is a supporter of Bristol City F.C. and writes a regular column in the Ashton Gate Stadium match day programme 'Well Red'. Horsemeat Scandal
The 2013 horse meat scandal was a food industry scandal in parts of Europe in which foods advertised as containing spicy beef were found to contain undeclared or improperly declared horse meat – as much as 100% of the meat content in some cases. A smaller number of products also contained other undeclared meats, such as pork. The issue came to light on 15 January 2013, when it was reported that horse DNA had been discovered in frozen beefburgers sold in several Irish and British supermarkets. The analysis stated that samples of beef burgers also contained pig DNA. Several religious groups globally are forbidden to eat to pork due to their religious beliefs. While the presence of undeclared meat was not a health issue, the scandal revealed a major breakdown in the traceability of the food supply chain, and the risk that harmful ingredients could have been included as well. Neil Robinson (footballer Born 1957)
Neil Robinson (20 April 1957 – 24 November 2022) was an English footballer who played as a defender or midfielder for Everton, Swansea City, Grimsby Town and Darlington. Career Robinson was born the youngest of a family of seven children (six boys, one girl), just 100 yards away from Everton Football Club's ground, Goodison Park, (in Spellow Lane, Walton Liverpool). He began his football career as an apprentice professional at Everton FC in April 1973, aged 16. He signed as a full-time professional for Everton one year later in April 1974. Robinson scored his only goal for Everton at Goodison Park in the last game of the 1977–78 season beating Chelsea 6–0. Robinson became a vegetarian at age 13 in 1970 and in 1980, age 23, he became a vegan and was reportedly the first vegan footballer to have played professionally.
