Georgi Vazov
Georgi Minchov Vazov (January 5, 1860 – August 13, 1934) was a Bulgarian-Russian militiaman. He was one of the main organizers of the 1886 Bulgarian coup d'état, aimed at the dethronement of Prince Alexander Battenberg. During the First Balkan War, he commanded the Eastern Sector during the Siege of Adrianople, where the offensive that led to the capture of the city took place. Ivan Vazov
Ivan Minchov Vazov (; – 22 September 1921) was a Bulgarian poet, novelist, and playwright, often referred to as "the Patriarch of Bulgarian literature". He was born in Sopot, a town in the Rose Valley of Bulgaria (then part of the Ottoman Empire). The works of Ivan Vazov reveal two historical epochs - the Bulgarian Renaissance and the Post-Liberation (from Ottoman Empire rule) epoch. Ivan Vazov holds the highest honorary title of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences - Academician. He acted as Education and People Enlightenment Minister from September 7, 1897, until January 30, 1899, representing the People's Party. Vladimir Vazov
Vladimir Minchev Vazov () (14 May 1868 – 20 May 1945) was a Bulgarian officer. He led the Bulgarian forces during the Battle of Doiran (1918), successful defensive operation at Dojran during the First World War. Biography Vladimir Vazov was born on 14 May 1868 to Mincho Vazov and Suba Hadjinikolova. His brothers were the writer Ivan Vazov, the officer Georgi Vazov and the politician Boris Vazov. In 1886 Vladimir Vazov entered the Military School in Sofia. After he graduated in 1888 he was assigned as a second lieutenant to the 5th artillery regiment in Shumen. On 18 May 1890 Vladimir was promoted to lieutenant and continued his specialization in Hessen, Germany. On 2 August 1894 he received the rank of Captain (land), captain and in 1896 was transferred to the 4th Artillery Regiment in Sofia and served as the commander of an artillery battery. Vazov Rock
Vazov Rock is a rocky peak of elevation of in the south extremity of Peshev Ridge in Tangra Mountains, eastern Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. This feature extends in a southeast to northwest direction, and surmounts Vazov Point to the south, Boyana Glacier to the northeast and Brunow Bay to the southwest. Location The peak is located at , which is south-southeast of Peshev Peak, west of Christoff Cliff and northeast of Needle Peak. Vazov Point is a point on the coast of Bransfield Strait forming the northeast side of the entrance to Brunow Bay on Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. This landmark is surmounted by Vazov Rock. Location The point is located at , which is northeast of Samuel Point and west by south of Aytos Point. It was mapped by the Bulgarian expedition Tangra 2004/05, who named it for the Bulgarian poet and playwright Ivan Vazov. Ivan Vazov National Theatre
The Ivan Vazov National Theatre (, ') is Bulgaria's national theatre, as well as the oldest and most authoritative theatre in the country and one of the important landmarks of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. It is located in the centre of the city, with the facade facing the City Garden. The Ivan Vazov National Theatre has a well-equipped main stage with 750 seats, a smaller 120-seat stage and an additional 70-seat one on the fourth floor. The theatre has been host to productions from notable theatre directors such as Alexander Morfov who has been the Chief director since 1993. The building's facade is depicted on the obverse of the Bulgarian 50 levs banknote, issued in 1999 and 2006. The Ivan Vazov National Library () is a library situated in Bulgaria's second largest city, Plovdiv. It is named after the famous Bulgarian writer and poet Ivan Vazov. It is the nation's second largest library containing more than 1,500,000 books. The library is also Bulgaria's second oldest, founded in 1879. In 1974 it was moved to a new edifice to the south of the City Garden. The library boasts 134 employees including 90 high-qualified specialists and research scholars.
